  • Dragons add 6’5” juco transfer guard Chris Dixon from Allen County Community College. I believe Dixon has 2 years of eligibility remaining. 5th off-season transfer for Dragons. Gotta believe that’s the final roster spot for next season. Appears the Dragons are going to have some likely competition in practice this offseason to figure out a rotation with all the new faces. Should be interesting.

WSC adds Trey Deveaux to the roster today. He was a NJCAA First Team All-American last year at Central Community College in Columbus, NE. The 6-5 forward averaged 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Three months later, the name finally became public. SMSU adds Truman State transfer Caleb Schlaak, son of Winona State hall of famer Kyle Schlaak.

The Luedtke transfer from Omaha to SMSU also officially became public, though it had made the social media rounds already.

Making post HS education more financially affordable is fantastic, good for Minnesota.

If it comes to fruition, watch every other cost associated with higher education skyrocket.

This new program is getting many headlines. But, I am afraid many families are going to be disappointed. First, this is a last-dollar scholarship program that caps out at incomes of $80,000 or less. Under current financial aid programs, most, if not all, students who come from families with income of $40,000 or less are already getting college free. This will open that same door for some families. But it also will create a headache for families should incomes change (think free college year one and not in year two because mom or dad got a $1000 raise) or they currently make say $82,000. The people who pushed this bill wanted the "free college" headline. They could have helped far more students by simply adding the funding to Minnesota's already generous financial aid program and changing a few levers in the allocation formula. But, sadly, that doesn't get headlines.

                            • Looks like sdsu transfer Broden Lien is hanging up the shoes. Disappointing as I hoped he would be a good ad this offseason. Time for Owen Hektner to contribute. He’s got much upside. He’s big and has some skill. Hoping he finds a role this season.
