Clarion isn't even that good. They lost to Cal UP by almost 30!

Only 3 undefeated teams left. GVSU, Mankato State, and Nova Southeastern. Should be a fun last month or so before tournament play starts. I'm looking forward to some good match ups here this week.

        -Northern Michigan @ GVSU 1/29
Harding @ NW Oklahoma State 1/29
Washburn @ Fort Hays State 1/29 (Fort Hays only loss this season was to Washburn) TWU @ W Texas A&M 1/31
Central Missouri @ Fort Hays State 1/31
Arkansas Tech @ NW Oklahoma State 1/31
        Ashland @ Northwood 1/31

Northern Michigan had a better shot at GVSU at home, but didn't get it done. GV is playing very well right now (Bisballe is back) and they are going to be hard to stop. The ONLY team that might give GV any trouble left on the schedule is Wayne State, who GV does have to play at Wayne State. But I doubt Wayne State gets as close this time.

Ashland played without 3 of its starters in December, and still has two starters out. Not sure how many teams could survive losing two starters let alone three. Ashland was going to have a down year regardless, but probably would have beat Northwood at home if they had been full strength like when they played Union Tennessee. Not sure Ashland's two starters will be back this season as the regular season ends in 6 weeks!

One under the radar team I've been keeping an eye on is Winston Salem State women. They are 16-1 on the year after a 7-20 season last year. Their strength of schedule leaves a lot to be desired, that being said, they have really improved quickly underneath 1st year head coach Tierra Terry. Just from my quick look, they've only had 5 seasons since 2000 with more than 16 wins, definitely an impressive start for coach Terry.

Undefeated #4 Nova Southeastern is facing a tough battle with Eckerd. With 3:34 left in the 2nd quarter, they trail 16-35.

I saw Nova went down with their rent-a-team. I believe there are two players on the roster that actually are not transfers. Now, it is a new coach so I understand some of it, but last year I believe they had at least 6 transfers.

Given their location. they certainly can pull in talent. The question is can they put it all together.

Great game tomorrow, Sat Feb 1, in Canyon. #3 Texas Woman's vs #5 WT. Both teams undefeated in conference. This game will most likely determine the LSC regular season champ and #1 seed for the conference tournament. I'd say TWU is the fave by 3 points.

Big regional game as well. Texas Women's, WT, and Colorado Mesa are the tops in the region. WT beat Colorado Mesa on the road. WT's only loss, was a 13 point season opening game against GV.

West Texas is a very good team. Yet they still didn't have enough firepower to stay with Grand Valley.

That region though is murderers row. They can't get rid of regionalization soon enough!

Re-match today with Central Missouri and Fort Hays State. The first match-up was a 65-60 (OT) win for Fort Hays State. Pretty incredible that Fort Hays State has the nations leading scorer (Talexa Weeter, 27.8 PPG) and passer (Brooke Loewe, 10.1 APG). What a scary combo to go against.

Saw it really wasn't that close this time. Good win for Central Missouri.

Pretty incredible that Pitt State and CMU aren't in the bracketology for the Central Region. Just speaks for the depth on display for these teams. CMU just beat #3 Fort Hays State and lost to them in OT in their first matchup. I would think they could continue to play their way into the top 8.

Yea. With a whole month of basketball left plus conference tournaments, not much to get worked up about. Plus this is just a projection by one guy (who is usually pretty accurate though).

Needless to say, regionalization can't disappear soon enough! Some of the teams have no business being in the tournament get in, while others in the Midwest, Central, and South Central that deserve to get in get left out.

Some good games on the slate today.

                                -Grand Valley @ Wayne State
                                -Lubbock Christian @ Texas Woman's
-SW MN State @ Mankato State
                                -Washburn @ Central Missouri
