Looks like each school gets their own version of the new generic logos for the conference. Excited about the new conference, but I hate these logos. Never have understood the different color things for the other schools either. I would think you would want a consistent brand across the conference for unity sake. Didn't like it when the GLIAC did it, and I hate that the G-MAC did it simply because I don't like the look of those logos. At least the GLIAC kept the same logo just in different colors. Huge fan of the G-MAC!!!! Not a fan at all of these new logos!

      Agreed.

Bright side - In general, things are trending very well for the conference. Its wonderful that our only criticism is a stripped-down logo.

Since it is a short work week and I am basically not wanting do really do much of anything else today, I have decided to throw out my dream scenario on how I think things will shake out conference wise. Like I said, I am over working this week so he kind......

It all starts with Ashland for me. This isn't me wanting them to join because the G-MAC needs them, but who wouldn't want them if they want to join? I think the admin had taken a long look at both sides of the debate. Watching expenses is crucial for most of the D2 and lower programs so I think this trumps the alumni base and their very compelling reason of liking to mix it up with the larger GLIAC schools as their reason to say. In the end money wins out and the Eagles join the G-MAC in 2018-19.

With Tiffin joining next year that makes it 10 football schools, the minimum you would like.

So now the GLIAC has to scramble and find another football school. The GLVC is down one with St Joe closing its doors. I think William Jewel will eventually transition down to D3 so that makes it two football schools lost. St Benedictine is rumored to be wanting to move up to D2 but would that be enough to keep UINDY in a conference that they were instrumental in helping to create? UINDY alumni have not been happy with the level of play in football in the GLVC. I have read and talked to one guy who said they have been "soft" since joining. They want to be great in football and they have a very good men's basketball team that should be ranked high next season. It's going to be a huge dog fight between GLVC, the GLIAC, and the G-MAC. Our conference sees a huge opportunity to really improve our league. The addition of UINDY and to a little lesser extent Ashland makes the GMAC one of the best basketball conferences in the nation. Will that be enough to sway the football alumni who want to return to a more punishing football schedule in the GLIAC? With Ashland joining will that take a lot of the luster off the GLIAC football image and inspire the Hounds to renew their old rivalry with Ashland on the gridiron? It just makes sense to UINDY and in a surprise announcement, they too join the GMAC in 18-19!

So we now have 11 football teams. Not good but not crushing either. But man, 12 is better than 11 so let's get another football school.

After not much pushing, Norte Dame College jumps at the chance to get out of the MEC. There is some bad blood and hurt feelings between NDC and the conference and some of the original members but as we see what is starting to happen, the attitude start to change. THey improve to football blueprint and make for a nice little conference travel area for them and the other schools working a few hours of Cleveland.

So now we have 12 football teams! But their are dark clouds over the horizon.

The MEC gets upset and needs to replace NDC. Alderson Broaddus is in their sights now. Everything about the MEC makes sense other than how they originally screwed AB over back in the day. Will travel cost that can be saved leaving he GMAC out weigh any hard feelings that may still be present? I have to have a bad ending in this little dream of mine and as much as I hate it, AB announces that after much discussion and debate, they have decided to leave the GMAC for the MEC.
Kind of a crushing blow to the hearts of the original members and one that I really hope does not happen!

So we are back down to 11 football schools.

More bad news, Trevecca decides that the current wave of expansion Is troublesome and not going in the direction toward their school so they are now actively looking at other options. The GMAC needs to act fast. Not to worry, the call has been made and an invite and been extended to Belllarmine!
With the westward expansion that the GLVC seems to be taking and after throughly discussing if going to DI would be more feasible, they decide stay D2 and join perhaps the most talented men's basketball conference in all of D2! This major move changes the mind of Trevecca and they decide to stay! It's a great day to be in the GMAC!

But we still need a 12 football school?

Suddenly, I wake up because I have to actually get back to work. Also because I cannot think of another school that would join😂😂😂😬😬

          First of all, happy weekend.

I do think Ashland moving or staying might go a long way in determining where UIndy ends up. Double or nothing situation?

I agree and think they are a key domino in a lot of conference moment, not just us!

I know they used what maybe a trendy font, I hate it. Having the logos in all the colors with the individual schools having their choice of two primary color shades seems a bit over the top. They must be trying to make everybody happy or the design committee was on an LSD experience.

Brandon posted this on another forum and I found it interesting
                  http://www.d2football.com/forum/show...t-League/page3

It's how much each D2 schools athletic budget is. I broke it down as this.....
                  UF- 8,735,693
                  Tiffin- 7,884,941
                  Walsh- 7,534,724
                  AB- 7.272.155
                  Lake Erie- 6,201,191
                  Malone- 5,956,151
                  ODU- 5,842,276
                  TNU- 4,531,164
                  KWC- 4,202,018
                  CU- 4,038,351
                  D&E- 3,135, 701
                  OVU- 3,002,794
                  Ursuline- 2,852,176
                  I could not find Hillsdale

Of interest, UINDY comes in fourth in the nation spending over $14 million. Also of note,
                  Bellarmine 7,888,837
                  Ashland 6,765,853
                  NDC 7,889,651

UINDY would by far be the biggest spender in the athletics arms race obviously, I am kinda shocked by how much though.

                      AB adding Women's Field Hockey:

Interesting, as neither the G-MAC or the MEC have Field Hockey, nor do any teams in those conferences currently sponsor it.

Internet says field hockey requires a special field. Net is never wrong.

Lacrosse is a once-regional sport that seems to be gaining major traction across the country.

Field hockey is also regional, but I don't necessarily think it's growing (at least not quickly). 20-something D2 teams?, With almost all of them in either the NE10 or PSAC. This is an interesting move.

With the competition being fairly close to AB I can understand the move.

And remember, Our AD is a Pittsburgh guy. We get a lot of kids from PA so it probably makes total sense in his mind. It's not the sport I would have added, but hey, may be cool to watch.... We'll see.
