William Jewell. Are they staying or moving down? Perhaps I have reading comprehension problems but I am confused

One more 2017 athlete post before I quit for the year. Olivia Esbenshade closed out her CU career with a really great third place All-American performance in the 1500m. I wasn't going to post anything about it, mainly because I already posted about CU's two National Champions. But, then I thought - that's been the story of this athlete's career. Olivia would have grabbed more headlines if it wasn't for her training partner winning 4 national titles and breaking D2 records. Olivia was the G-MAC Cross Country Runner of the Year and the Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She had obtained All-American status as part of a Cedarville relay team earlier, but this (in her final collegiate race) was her first time to gain All-American status individually. So here's to you Ms Esbenshade. You have represented CU well.

The thing is, with SJC closed, UIndy is somewhat on an island, with few real good candidates for GLVC membership or D2 transitioning. The nearby NAIA schools have been discussed elsewhere. None of Indiana's D3 schools currently are likely to see much value in D2, unless it's another public regional campus, and even then the GLVC pretty much ignored the last one to make such a move. Most relatively nearby schools are either in the GLVC already, recently moved from a conference, or are Oakland City. A school like Benedictine is probably about the best UIndy could ask for in a candidate.

Certainly could have been. I am sure every league commish is anticipating movement. Or they should be if they are not.

As for impact to UIndy - at least it's closer than another MO school, it gets them into the Chicago market, and it has football.
Kinda makes you wonder if they were contacted about a possible move? Total stretch I know. I know next to nothing about them but other than they are in the Chicago land area so I cannot say great move or not. Quick reaction is meh.

Interesting. Have not heard anything about them. Helps Lewis and Parkside for sure if they would indeed move up. It still surprises me when D3 schools move up. I don't know why I guess I just have this ideal that they are the "true" model for the student athlete. Silly.

This is potentially SJC's replacement in the GLVC:

Heard the rumor at a party last night. When I came home, I found the above story - which would appear to support that the rumor isn't a totally crazy one.

Anybody else hear anything about this?

I think G-MAC athletes won 4 events at Track and Field Nationals (the 2 Cedarville athletes I highlighted above, plus the Malone discus athlete and the hurdler from Ursuline).

Prior to yesterday, I think Carsyn's 3 previous individual National Titles were the only National Titles the G-MAC had - in any sport. That prior total was more than doubled during the last two days of competition. And, I'm not even counting athletes from any of the incoming schools. As Mark Elliot said earlier today, the G-MAC is on a great trajectory!

Listened to Mark Elliot radio show. No loose lips or surprises.

He said G-MAC geography is not what they want, but due to the nature of the schools, the G-MAC is where they will stay. Said G-MAC has great trajectory and leadership.
