For those who haven't seen - G-MAC will be playing in the Atlantic Region this year.

      • I saw that. Going to be a little odd. But it makes sense.

          • Yeah. Which does NOT make sense. You're playing the same # of rounds, just with some teams getting byes in the first. I don't see the point. Do 64, or do 32 ... but 48 is dumb.

So our 'chance' yet again this year is to win the conference tourney. Which is not impossible but is definitely a long shot.

            • Or, we could go play at Findlay without even getting off the bus and let them make us look like absolute morons who couldn't win a rec league let alone a D2 conference tourney. How lovely.

              • The key for us to have any chance is to win out in the regular season and hope the MEC teams beat up on each other...
but still unlikely that the GMAC gets three teams.

                • I have to say I was surprised to see we are in the first rankings. What is this "under consideration" BS? Can they not just do a regular ranking? Why are they making everything so weird this year

As an MEC fan who popped in to check on your GMAC thread, I can say that you've gotten your wish so far. The MEC teams have been cannibalizing each other all season long. It's a real mess in the MEC right now, which certainly opens the door for KWU. But what also possibly shuts the door for KWU is the possibility that the MEC continues to cannibalize itself right down to crowning a tourney winner (and auto-bid recipient) who isn't otherwise on the watch list. A deep tourney run from, say, West Virginia State is your worst nightmare right now.

If you look at the current standings, I could take exception to this comment - but I won't based upon the fact that CU's remaining games are Hillsdale, Findlay and Malone. That's a tough road.

                        • Cedarville is puzzling to me this year. A couple of your losses are, to say the least, 'bad' (Ohio Dominican, Tiffin) ... but at the same time you guys won at Findlay. Add to that the fact that we've for some reason been unable to play you this year, it makes you all the more mysterious to me.

On our end, KWC doesn't really have any bad losses. Losing at home to Walsh on a buzzer beater is the worst, and I will freely admit that Walsh's performance down the stretch this season is making that one look worse. But it's still not really BAD. Other than that we've not lost to anyone except Hillsdale and Findlay. Which is absolutely a sign that we're not "there" yet - meaning where we want to be (and KWC purists would say where we SHOULD be). But I do tend to agree that we are 'improved'.

My biggest concern regarding where we are today is that Our top 4 guards and one of our top bigs are all seniors. The underclassmen guards we have right now don't (to me) look likely to be able to step in and really fill the shoes that are going to be emptied at the end of this season. And unfortunately, we get ZERO recruiting news during the season, typically. So I am very much concerned that we're going to be right back into the mediocre column once this season is over. I hope I'm wrong.

                          • With the new rule there is always a chance a senior or two will return for next season.

                              • And we have another game canceled. I don't know if it's 'us' or 'them' or some combination of the two, but man I can't wait til the 'vid is an afterthought and games can just be played as scheduled without all this chaos.
