That's the truth! If not Louisville then Evansville at least.

Knights played well last night. Stifling defense in the first 10 minutes had Lewis flustered. Lewis didn't look good, not sure if they are really down in talent this year, or was it just great defense. Parkside took a loss at USI so they will come into Knights Hall Saturday looking to upset BU's 35 game home win streak. Skyler Hunter had his best game as a Knight last night. Balanced scoring all around.

Not to knock the Knights, but Lewis was horrible.last night. Something was going on with them that made them play like the walking dead. This is the team that won the GLVC tourney last year and returned a lot of talent. Very puzzling.

I agree that Lewis really looked bad. On another subject I had been hoping that the CJ would give the Knights a little ink in the sports page...but its been nonexistent this year. I guess its just overall budget cuts at the CJ to stop the bleeding of money in the print media's downward "death spiral". They have almost no writers in their sports page staff now. One coumnist and a couple of "contractors" who write about nothing but UK/UL football/basketball recruiting. I guess they figure thats all their dwindling readership cares about. Local TV stations do cover the Knights occasionally. I guess we should be thankful for that. With regard to reading high school basketball scores in the CJ, I have to get out a magnifying glass to read the tiny tiny print they jam into a quarter of a page.

Agree. After several years of pretty good coverage, very little this year. Attendance was a little disappointing last night, but its tough when UofL is playing a home game at the same time. I guess the truth is that nobody reads the paper anymore except us old guys, although I am not sure how successful the CJ is on line. In this day in age the school has to create its own buzz through social media. We seem to do a better than average job at that. This team does deserve attention for how well they have played without as much experienced talent as some recent teams. If we can win the East division, Scotty should be COY.

I don't think the pouring rain helped attendance either. I was also hoping for a better crowd.

I agree the weather didn't help. However many people don't want to come and deal with the lack of adequate parking. This is especially true on nights when class is in session.

It is a far shorter walk from the lot behind the SURF than it is to games at the YUM Center or Rupp, and it's free parking. So many got used to having convenient parking at the door (and a crowd of about 800 ten years ago). Don't want to go back to those days but I do think the parking situation has impacted attendance.

I'm also at a loss as to why there is not more student support. I graduated in '74 and in those years the students packed the bleachers when the school enrollment was 1300. Those were the days when a winning record was celebrated much less a 20 win season or NCAA appearance. Now with an enrollment of nearly 4000 and a top tier team, it is rare to see the end zone full. Most days there are less than 150 students. Any thoughts on why today's students are not more engaged?

                  Passing of Vince Marchal
Sadly, I must report the passing of long time BU fan Vince Marchal. Vince had been a season ticket holder for 40+ years and was a member of this board. He called a friend yesterday and left a voicemail that he had a virus and wouldn't be able to make it to last night or Saturday's game. He passed during the night. His presence will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Is Vince related to Gil Marchal? Gil graduated one year behind me and went on to Med School.

                    • Vince is Gil's first cousin.

Very sorry to hear about Vince.

On a lighter note, Alex Cook is still my "man crush."

And I'm really big on Weyer too. What a shooting performance by him.

Bach, Cook, Weyer and Coles score 44 points, the starting five score 38 points, gotta be the best bench in the GLVC.

BU is playing beautifully. The defensive effort is a sight to behold. The last three games there has been a discernable surprise by the opposition at the tenacity of the defense. These are good offensive teams who have been completely taken out of their games. The Knight's offense has also been great. The preoccupation with getting the best shot is apparent. If I had any criticism it would be trying to make some overly difficult passes and occasionally passing up shots that should be taken, both of which have lead to more turnovers than necessary.

I thought Al Davis dominated the game yesterday and only scored 6 points. He makes me tired watching his all out effort. He is a supremely conditioned athlete who is making great use of his strength and quickness.

I love the way Al Davis pushes the ball up court when the Knights get a defensive rebound. He is so quick and fast on his feet - you can almost read the dread in the opponents eyes when he is pushing the ball on the break as if they are thinking "man is this guy ever gonna get tired or slow down!"
