These Truman St announcers are incredible. Really really good. Nothing against Truman but these guys should be doing much higher level games.

Just wish they could get their live stats to work. Scoreboard been paused on the video the whole second half.

    • As good as the Knights were against Quincy last night, the second half of today's game at Truman has to be the worst performance by a Bellarmine team I've witnessed in several years. 1 FG in the last 7 min of the game; only 11 assists in the game; a complete defensive breakdown in the 2nd half. Truman ran the same sets as they did in the first half and we simply stopped defending. This loss will come back to haunt when post season berths are determined.

During the post game show, Scotty said this loss was devastating and the worst half of basketball he had experienced as a coach. Hopefully this team can dig down and find their heart (like they did against Quincy). Southern Indiana may be one of the top 3-4 teams in the country right now. This team needs a boost of confidence. We have the talent but can't seem to put together 40 min of consistent, focused effort. After the next 4 games we will see what this team is made of.

They were completely exhausted in the second half. I blame it on the scheduling B. S. I hope a 30 point loss to Creighton was worth it for Truman. Exhaustion and a few unexplainable traveling calls against Eberhard cost them that game.

I was very curious as to why Bellarmine and Truman played on consecutive nights. It appears that the Big East mandated that all their teams play within 48 hours of the "Big East Martin Luther King Marathon" and Creighton did not have a game. So Creighton coach calls his former player who is now head coach at Truman to get a game instead of getting any D1 opponent. So Creighton gets an easy win to satisfy the Big East. Truman gets Bellarmine after playing against Quincy (game ended up being an overtime game) on consecutive nights, then due to weather conditions moves the game up four hours and finally pockets $35,000 from Creighton to play.

People may be very critical of their coach but he did Creighton and Truman a HUGE favor that turned out to be a killer to his team in both the standings and post season rankings. I hope Bellarmine got half of that 35K or maybe Creighton will pay for Bellarmine to come out next season for an exhibiton

People seem to be forgetting that Truman played at the exact same time the night before, against Southern Indiana, the team that's undoubtedly #1 in the region right now. Yes, Truman was at home, but 'exhaustion' wasn't the reason Bellarmine lost any more that being 'less exhausted' was the reason Truman won.

If they were too exhausted to play on back-to-back days, then I guess Bellarmine is going to bow out in the second round of the NCAA tournament, when teams have to play on a second straight day.

First of all I dont have a "dog in the fight" I was just curious as to why they played on consecutive nights. Historically in the GLVC road teams have struggled on the second game of a roadtrip and that is with a days rest and less than a days rest seemed an odd schedule to me.

Truman did not have to travel six hours to play USI then have their game go to OT then have to get on a bus for an hour and a half to a hotel to play the next day. I did not say that was the reason Bellarmine lost but if you think that it had no affect on the outcome at all you are looking thru rose colored glasses. You dont think its odd that Bellarmine gave up a 17 point halftime lead?

The point was Bellarmine did a big favor for Creighton and Truman and got nothing out of it except bad loss.

In a NCAA second round tournament setting both teams will be at the same site.

I rarely thumb through the basketball board as I'm more of a football guy so I'm likely out of my element. I know life on the road is tough, but my response was more on the 'exhausted' comment made before your post. If the argument is that it was hard on Bellarmine to play two tough road games on back-to-back days, then by all means, that's fair. But it just seemed like the feeling was that Bellarmine was tired and that wasn't fair, leaving out the fact Truman played the night before also.

In response to your comment before about Bellarmine hopefully getting a kickback, I would sure HOPE they got something out of the deal. Otherwise their coach/athletic department staff is really silly. There's absolutely no way the GLVC MADE Bellarmine switch these dates (like the Big East MADE Creighton get a game), so my guess is that either Truman or Creighton sweetened the deal as you inferred.

Thanks man, I appreciate it and agree with you. Life in D2/3 sports is a challenge most of the time. Its surely not as easy as D1 with regards to travel.

Assuming TSU is your team,,,,good luck the rest of the way.

I made the comment about exhaustion. If you don't think that playing on the road is a big difference than you obviously don't pay attention to conference games much. Also you must not have watched the game. BU was clearly a totally different team in the second half. They were coming off a tough overtime game after a week of half the team including their best player being stricken with a virus.

I shouldn't say the schedule was responsible necessarily. The team may have been just has wiped out the next day. But a day of rest would certainly have helped.... As for your comment about tournament time, I don't know of a time where a team has to travel by bus for 90 minutes after midnight and play less than 18 hours after finishing the game before.

The world is a good and just place (tonight). Can't say enough good things about the Knights defensive effort. USI simply was not used to being defended like that . Shot selection was atrocious by USI, especially in the first half. Complete team effort by BU.

Congrats on that win. I always enjoy watching USI lose, but in the grand scheme of things this game had some pretty significant regional implications, so kudos to BU for stepping up their game on the big stage.

I get to say it, that was Huuugggee (Ok that's what she said, aswell.) Great effort. Best defense I have seen all season. USI was taking a lot of bad shots and the defense was the cause. Offense was executed perfectly. Strong game by everyone, especially Rusty, Davis(except those two turnovers in the last two minutes) and Jenkins. Makes up for Friday's bad loss. Need to follow up with good games against Lewis and UWP.

Likewise it was a great effort by whole team against USI. Lewis and UWP have to come to Louisville and Evansville to face BU and USI. This week may decide who is the "Beast in the East" of GLVC.

Big games coming up. I guess I have to root for USI Thursday. Need to tag Parkside with 2 losses this week as their schedule turns favorable after that with their remaining big games at home. BU must take care of business and defend their home court. Tough games at home still with Lewis, UWP, Drury and USI. Tough road game against Indy who seems to have turned it around as well. Then there is the St. Louis road trip which on paper should not be that tough but for some reason BU always has issues there. Play like they did in the last 5 of 6 halves and they run the table. But play at all like that 2nd half at Truman and there be trouble. Still think that half was an aberration, caused by scheduling fluke and illness. We shall soon see if this team is capable of consistent good play.

Yes, you guys need to knock Parkside down a few pegs! The regional needs to be somewhere not named Kenosha this year.
