Lynn and Barry (Florida schools) are always tough. With regard to the Knights chances, I am increasingly pleased that Jarek Coles has stepped up his game. As much as we on this board appreciate how Al Davis has become a big time player, the team does not lose much at all if Coles is running the point instead of Al.

100% agree. Coles assist/to ratio is 3.0. What I like about him is he seems to be completely confident in what he can do and doesn't have to press to impress. If I have any personnel concerns, its Jenkins who has not played terrible in the last three games, but he has disappeared a little bit.

This team is very well situated for this year and the next.

Another good win for BU. Things are lining up nicely, especially if the Knights continue playing their suffocating defense!! Good to see Taylor back on the floor. We'll need him next year, Hunter too. When does the first regional ranking come out? In 2 weeks? Watched Weyer in the shoot around before the game, saw him sink 10 straight 3 pt shots before he missed one. Amazing passing exhibit by BU last night although a couple of times they passed up good shots only to throw up an outside shot when the shot clock ran out. UWP took a loss at Rockhurst. Truman and QU have to make the road trip up to the "frozen north" to play UWP and Lewis which means four losses will be handed out among those 4 teams. Ferris state and Findlay are the only teams that could conceivably rank anywhere in the regional rankings. KWC has a good record but no one in their conference has a winning record besides them so KWC will get knocked for having a softer schedule.

The execution by this team is so much fun to watch. Right up there with the 2011 national champs. Not as much talent, but the execution is as good. Rusty was great and appears to be picking up his game. Frankly, I still think he could be more aggressive in looking to score, but I am not sure that would make the team any better, pretty hard to beat 58% shooting. It may come into play when we play better, longer defenses. At some point in the tournament, I think Rusty is going to have to take and make some tough shots.

Not sure if the zone Drury started in was a new wrinkle. It seemed to throw us off for a few minutes to start the game, but the team adjusted and forced Drury out of the zone. We shot the 3 exceptionally well because we got exceptionally good 3 point shots. Ben Weyer is probably the most productive scorer per minute played on the team. He is shooting 56% from the three point line (can you say "Benedetti"?). Teams are going to have to start adjusting to him, which will be difficult for them. His next step forward will be putting the ball on the floor and going to the hoop. He does have a post game that he will continue to improve. BTW, next year's probable front line, Weyer, Eberhard, and Cook is shooting almost 50 % from the 3 for the season. One of the most impressive things about the freshmen is their shooting percentage in general. We have had some great players and scorers who did not shoot that well from the field as freshman. To prove I am not all sunshine and light, Cook and Weyer got lost a couple of times on defense last night, so they are still freshmen.

I am not quite sure about the talent thing. This team maybe more talented in the end, they just don't have the overall experience that the 2011 team had. Davis and Troutman are definitely gifted players and have the experience. Eberhard, Cook and Weyer may be the most talented frontcourt players BU has had at one time, they just lack the experience of Benedetti, Holmes and Sprague. I think its the old question of what is talent in basketball. We all agree that Hobbs (genuflect) is the greatest player in BU history but was he the most talented? If we say basketball skill right now, then I think your statement is correct, the 2011 team was the best. But the word talent evokes more of potential and I think this team has more players with more potential.

Next year, even with the loss of Rusty and Al, looks to be even better than this year because that talent will have gotten some experience. It doesn't really matter who Scotty brings in because he has the core 6 already. Add in a healthy Taylor and the team will be pretty strong at all positions. Incoming freshmen will just be in training for the next season.

Don't rule out a transfer for next year.

I think the incoming freshman Fleming will be getting some playing time. I have a hunch he will be a very good point guard in the future.

That's always a possibility but I think it will only add depth as the starting five are already on this team subject to injury or the like. The chemistry is already there. Not sure if a transfer will fit well (unless he is a Jeremy Kendle type!)

How about a 6'6" 230 lbs power forward.

Someone needs to tell this Maryville announcer to take a chill pill when Maryville hits a 3. Overall does a decent job considering he is by himself but anytime Maryville hits a 3 he literally screams in the microphone. Need to watch it on mute because I can barely hear him otherwise and his screams are unbearable.

Seriously he is the worst I have heard because of this... other than Quincy's. Those guys were clueless the entire game. This guy just has a very annoying and career killing habit. Done with my soap box.

                        Will take the win.

Great minds think alike -- I couldn't take that anymore and had to mute the audio. I'll take the win too and hope BU can get out of STL with two victories.

Hey, a road win is a win even if the knights didn't play their best. QU and Truman get crushed up north and now they switch partners and face a potential set of losses Saturday. Will the GLVC west get any bids to the NCAA regional? The plot thickens.

Looks like Lewis is pulling the same trick as last year. Coming on strong at the end. It's hard for me to believe that QU won't make the regional, but it is not a sure thing now.

If you look at the stats from last night's game, and ignore the TO column, it looks like BU played another great game. Those TO's were horrible, however. TO's and allowing offensive rebounds are the only way a team can shoot in the high 50% range and lose a game. We do always struggle against the Maryville zone, but honestly, I would not call most of those TO's "forced". A lot of fumbling the ball and bad passes. Bellarmine, rightfully, prides itself on great shot selection. We occasionally have a problem with bad pass selection that manifests itself in TO's or sometimes missed opportunities to take a good shot.

Was it just me, or did Adam Eberhard look like he was dragging last night?

I noticed that Eberhard was not moving well. The turnovers were ridiculous. I would say less than half were actually "forced". Too many times they are looking for the extra pass and passing on a decent shot. Jenkins and Troutman carried them last night. Everyone else seemed a little off.
