Only thing I would add to everyone else's comments is that Adam Eberhard played very well in the second half. He clearly understands that this team is depending on him to be a scorer, distributor and rebounder. He has put any question about his endurance to bed. He managed to maintain high energy throughout the game. His post defense has been good throughout the exhibition schedule, even though he has been extremely disadvantaged in size, strength and probably quickness. BTW he had a really nice block in the second half.

It is pretty clear that Davenport is not going to be looking at Taylor playing a lot of minutes. I would like to see him get more time, but coach knows best. The big question mark remains Weyer. If he is able to play, how much time will he get?

I think Taylor will get more minutes than he did in these games. Scotty mentioned after the Indiana game that he is limited due to a foot problem. He has a blister that got infected. I would expect him to be used like Eberhard was last year.

Yeah, I've been pleasantly surprised and would like to see Taylor get a nice chunk of minutes.

Hope the guys can rest and heal if necessary -- been a crazy past five days or so for them. Also hope that Ramser is okay.

This has been a strange week of exhibitions. I was feeling good after Cincy, bad after IU, and a mix of both last night.

I was glad to see some other scoring in the second half. As much as we need Rusty and Adam to be great, I think it is more important for other guys to be scoring threats. The first half showed us why. When only Rusty and Adam were threats, UofL locked in defensively and we couldn't get a thing. When everyone was a threat, we looked dangerous and put together a really nice half.

All things considered, I am glad preseason is done and we can see what this team turns into. I'm ready to watch them play in Knights Hall already

Ramser has been released from the hospital. Scotty was on WHAS 840 for about a half hour around lunch and indicated he had a follow up at the Dr. office at noon, and reiterated he was ok. No timetable for return to action, though. Ramser's return to team activities is not yet determined. "All concussions are different, and we have very specific protocols to follow, so there really isn't a timetable yet for his return," Head Trainer Brad Bluestone said. This was posted on the BU site:

Also. Tim Sullivan, Sports Editor of the CJ has posted his column online that will appear in the CJ tomorrow:

I'd like to agree with the comments about Eberhard's play in the second half last night. I think he along with Troutman are going to carry the heaviest load this season. If we can generate some scoring threat from the other guards and some good minutes from Weyer/Cook/Taylor/Knott etc. we might be looking at a good season. I'm looking forward to games at Knights Hall.

Good stuff -- thanks. Glad to hear about Ramser getting out of the hospital.

My feelings about these three games mirror Knighthead's. I do think Bellarmine would have looked at least somewhat better against Indiana and Louisville if the Knights had a little more time between games and weren't playing three in five days.

As has been noted in our distinguished forum here, we're extremely fortunate that BU hoops gets such good local coverage; I remember, when I was an undergrad as well as when I came back to live in L'ville for several years after grad school, that the coverage of the Knights stunk. That said, I find it interesting that there have been at least two or three games against U of L during the Davenport era where BU kept it close and had only a single-digit loss, and the local media wasn't wall-to-wall with the coverage, opinion pieces, etc. Heck, I vividly remember watching Davenport's first game, an exhibit against Louisville, when an undermanned BU (with the likes of Kyle Thrasher and Marcus Flynn) was only down by one point at the half and lost by seven -- the Knights deserved more "love" from the media (and fans) then, but such is life.

If a school wants coverage from the media, they had best move their sports to D-1. At UIndy we get nothing in the Indianapolis media. I've read Bellarmine was down almost 40 points in the first half to Louisville and Pitino called off the dogs, that isn't gonna get the media excited about Bellarmine. Or UIndy, or USI, whoever in D-2. I wish UIndy would look at D-1 sports, I know it would cost, but the media would have to cover us if we played Butler, IU, Purdue, Louisville, the other schools in D-1 who are close. Has Bellarmine thought about D-1?

Personally I'm not a fan of D2 schools changing to D1 - I think a change would be incredibly difficult to become competitive. I would rather Drury (or whoever your school is) compete for championships in D2 over being a bottom dweller never making the tournament at the D1 level.

I can remember having to search the fine print to even find a Bellarmine score in the 70's and 80's. The thought of having our games on radio was also a rare thing. Now, most games we can watch via live streaming. Obviously, Scotty's popularity in the Louisville area and our success in the past 11 years have a lot to do with the coverage we now receive.

On a related note, I attended the Quarterback Club luncheon today where David Padget, UL asst spoke. He had praise for the Bellarmine team and the way they fought back in the 2nd half. Pitino did not call the dogs off; in fact, you may recall that Pitino called three timeouts as BU continued to score in the paint. Padgett said that BU exposed some areas that UL needs to work on.

Someone asked why D1 schools schedule teams like Bellarmine, instead of the old days when Athletes in Action (made up of former D1/DII players) would serve as the exhibition game. Padgett said the NCAA changed the rules about a dozen years ago for forbid non-collegiate scrimmages. The current rules allow D1 schools to have two exhibition games against DII/III schools. The D1 schools can have "secret" (he used the example of UL scrimmaging WKU) or public exhibitions, where they can charge admission. Obviously, most use the public exhibitions. Padgett said Pitino has already talked with Scotty about doing it again next year.

True. My point was just that it's funny, even in the recent years when coverage is good, the few times Bellarmine has played Louisville close, it doesn't get as much media attention as the beat-downs.

I believe I'm in the minority of BU fans, but I kind of like the D-I move idea. Seems there was more buzz about it at BU a few years go, although we'll see what happens when the new, permanent president is selected. Assuming the money barrier can be overcome, it boils down to whether you want to be a "big fish in a little pond" or the opposite. Bellarmine's relatively young D-I lacrosse program has done okay -- had a few really nice wins, but, being realistic, they are a middle of the pack program at best right now. If Bellarmine starts football, I think it's a sign they intend to stay D-II for the foreseeable future (although I suppose they could try non-scholarship D-I pigskin like Dayton, Butler, Valpo, etc. in the Pioneer League).

I think Pitino called off the full court pressure but still pushing the half court def. happy to see the team man up and played like they can. one bad note it looks like Bach can't stay on the court. I imagine lack of def. is the reason

Darn it. I'm hoping for big things out of him (among others) this season.

I'm against going to DI it hadn't done much for NKU or IPFW they hadn't played in the NCAA tourney or drawing increase crowds. in fact I use NKU in my argument why going to BU is a better decision that signing with a low level DI. no post season , plying with small crowds in a larger arena rather than noisy 2200 fans in a 2100 seat gym like BU, lots of playing time best of all instead of a directional state school degree you have a BU degree to use for the next 45 yrs.

Yeah, I hear you and am not sold on the idea (and am no fan of NKU); but, just to play devil's advocate for fun, NKU was in a transition period for a while and simply not eligible for post-season play. Now, if I am not mistaken, they are full D-I, have an improving squad, and could make the tournament one of these seasons. One could reasonably argue that merely making the D-I hoops tourney, even if as an automatically-qualifying sixteen seed, gets more notoriety than winning a D-II title.

Regardless of whether D-II or D-I, we can agree that a Bellarmine degree is awesome. And it's pretty sweet that schools like BU and KWC out-drew DePaul (and I'm sure other D-I schools) last season. If I actually had some semblance of basketball skill and were a young man choosing between a "high" D-II and a low-level D-I, I like to think that, to use the NCAA slogan, I'd choose D-II.
