Or a board crashing 6'8" 240 lbs with long arms would be ok too. Looks like Scotty is loading up on guard talent. There is likely to be 6 guys fighting for backcourt playing time, and that's not even counting Ramser. Some of the 3 freshman are likely to not get much playing time this year. We're loading up on coaches' sons.

    • I think Coles will start at the point with Chitty and Fleming backing him up. Bach and the others will play the 2. The way Scotty plays perimeter defense, you can't have too many guards. If they are effective, they cut off the penetration to the lane and take some pressure off the bigs.

Word is that we will see significant improvement from Taylor as the 6'8" 250 lb of board crashing ferocity, provided he stays healthy.

I am confident that if Taylor stays healthy, he will be an effective player before he graduates. It is very difficult to make the improvements needed as a freshman when hampered by injury. It looks to me that the Cooke-Weyer-Eberhard front line could be Bellarmine's all time best. If Taylor improves and stays healthy, they will be deep, long, and diverse in style. It is critical that Taylor make those improvements this year so that he doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

I would be happy to see Chitty or Fleming starting at the point, because that would make them very good players to have beaten out Coles (barring injury, of course). Coles demonstrated more than mere competency last year. There are somethings he does better than Davis, like shoot and protect the basketball. He may not have the motor that Davis had (I am not sure anybody does), but he is a very good defender, although he is more of a stay between your man and the basket defender and probably not a big theif of the basketball. There is no doubt that Coles is up to the job, and I look for no real fall off at point.

I'm guessing that shooting guard is the most likely position to see an addition. Really think a 6'4" or 6'5" slasher and shooter would be great (I know I just described Rusty).

They've got the potential, I look for big things from them (pun not intended), and I hope that comes to pass. But it'll be hard to top Schurfranz, Hartlage, and Monks, circa '90-'92.

That was a pretty good group there. But as good as there were, and that might have been Reibel's best teams, they were not expected to contend for national championship like the present squad, which is mostly due to the frontcourt. We got two more years with these three together. They will be special.

I'm not going to say that this team needs anything else. I think all the positions are covered well and there should be good depth. I just don't see much of a weakness. I guess if they can bring in someone just like Eberhard to back him up in case of injury the team would be ideal. It looks like they have 3 good options at PG(Coles, Chitty, Fleming), at least 2(Jenkins, Bach) at the shooting guard, the already mentioned frontcourt with Taylor, Ramser, Hunter, et al backing them up.

Uh, pretty sure they cracked the top ten and won the GLVC. So I certainly had high hopes in that era, but it seemed to me that Reibel was "mailing it in" by then. Scotty would've won at least one title with that crew.

I saw where UofL transfer Jay Henderson was visting Ohio State with Rick Pitino when the OSU coach got fired.http://www.landgrantholyland.com/201...-jay-henderson I guess he has high hopes of going to a high D1 school. Not really sure why any of those type schools would be interested in a former walk on at St. John and Uof L who did not get any playing time.

Good stuff from Sean McNeil and the KY-Indiana all star game: http://www.kyforward.com/ohmer-mcnei...ainst-indiana/

Also ran across this on CJ Fleming, not sure if it had been previously linked: http://www.cincinnati.com/story/spor...end/100097094/

Like so many that Scotty has recruited, I think McNeil is going to turn out to be a real "steal" for BU. Seems like yet another great fit.

Hobbs plays in Ulm, Germany which is southwestern Germany no too far from Stuttgart. The Ulm Cathedral shown toward the end of the video is said to have the tallest steeple of any church in the world.

Eberhard coaches Penn in AAU club. Must really like him. If he accepts BU will really be loaded at the point over the next 4 years.

I can't believe he would choose BU over USI...I mean we have won 1 tournament game and we are building a brand new arena while all you guys have done is been to 4 Elite Eights and won a title over the past 7 years. I'm sure Rodney will say that he wasn't interested in Penn because we are stacked at guard...or something stupid like that.
