Here are some top names that I was able to confirm that will be at the elite camp on Saturday:

Dale Bonner, 6'1" guard from Shaker Heights, OH. He averaged 18 ppg last year.

RJ Sunahara, 6'6" forward from Bay Village, OH. 24 ppg and 12 rpg last year.

Mason McMurray, 6'7" forward from Stow, OH. 15.5 ppg last year and has offers from Notre Dame College and Fairmont State.

Garrett Tipton, 6'4" wing player from Bishop Hartley in Columbus, OH. Didn't get averages, but excellent looking video.

Justin Curtis, 6'3" wing player from Columbus East HS, 20 ppg this past season.

Juan Elmore, 6'5" ; 220 lb forward from Pickerington Central HS in Ohio. Incredible frame for a high school junior and good tape. I didn't get numbers but he played on a good team. What I could find, he had some big games this year with double-doubles.

Thomas Hickman, 6'1" guard from Westerville Central HS in Ohio. 2nd Team OOC Buckeye honors. Honorable Mention all state in the central district.

Tre Baumgardner, 6'1" guard from Afrocentric HS in Columbus. Couldn't locate stats, but he can play defense on tape.

These are what I got as some of the top names. There will be others. I am looking forward to being there. I will have complete coverage next week. I am leaving at 5:30 AM Saturday.

On another note, Austin Upton has been selected to play in the prestigious WV North-South Boys Basketball All-Star Game at the bubble dome in South Charleston. I hope to get there in a couple of weeks to see him. We have had a ton of hits on our story on Austin. Most of those hits are coming out of Barbour County according to our analytics. The locals are excited and I think it is great.

Looks like 46 kids here from PA, OH, WV and VA. I will post live on the site throughout the day. There will be 6 different teams. Each player has the same color shirt as their teammate. Team Black, Carolina Blue, Navy, Grey, White and Yellow. Kids have numbers on the back so it is easy to identify. Kids just got done combine testing at 6 different stations....sprints, lat movement, standing jump, vertical jump, etc. Guys now going thru defensive drills. Mason McMurray of Monroe-Stow (OH) and Na'Elle Simmons of Beechcroft (OH) lookeed good during testing.

Here is where I post the rest of the day:

I will have full wrap up and quotes next week. I got a family day tomorrow. Plenty of quotes from kids....I talked to about 15 and will reach out to a few more. Some really impressive players today. Kids worked hard and liked how the camp was structured....drills were taught and expected to be used in full-court games. They also played situations which I liked....ie down 1 with 20 to go, up 1 with 45 secs to go, etc. They made kids think and work team play with each other. This had to be considered a great success. The top players liked how it went and how it was set up. Kids also got to see campus. Zimmerman was complimentary of Wamsley and how hard he worked to set this thing up. Zimmerman felt just getting a lot of these kids on campus, to see it, to get to see the overall campus is a huge thing. Some of these kids had good numbers coming in from high school but their ability in skill set drills and fundamental reads was impressive.

I will have stuff up next week. U got questions....ask me....I will try to answer when I get home. I was more than impressed today. Every one showed but two....and they were SAT today.

Followed your updates all day JDon. From the way you sound, things must have gone pretty well. Was anyone offered?

I didn't hear anything yesterday until I saw this. I know that Coach Wamsley and Coach Zimmerman went in the coaches office with Garrett Tipton. I know Zimmerman talked a lot to Sunahara after the camp. In the afternoon sessions, he just was real freaky good. His hops....my goodness! And he has skills. I am not so sure he won't go D-I. If he doesn't, we have a chance. His dad is the volleyball coach at WVU just one hour north of AB. His parents are together but mother remained in Ohio until RJ finished up school. I know Zimmerman also talked to McMurray. Those seemed to be the three that were talked to the most. Heath is another one that has good performances. He is very close to Carmon from what I was told (from Heath himself).

Sunahara would project at a four and three. He is 6'8" as I was there for measurements. Tipton is a wing who can flat do a lot of things well. I've got quotes from both and talked to Heath and McMurray. I didn't ask about offers, but I saw this. I am not surprised considering we lose Mitchell, Harper and Smith next year. Just my opinion which means nothing, but I came away with Tipton and Sunahara being the two that impressed the most.

Just in the basketball talks around here, a lot of good things have been said about some of the players you mentioned. I talked to a former colleague of mine who took one of his players there. He used to be affiliated with All-Ohio and he agreed that it was a well run camp. He commented on the structure, situations, and organization just you did. He said it was run better then some D1 camps he had been to and really liked that Coach Wamsley gave it a personal touch by referring to players by their first name.

Hopefully AB can keep something like this going especially if it is bringing in players that the staff will actively pursue. The staff followed Isaiah Francis and Lonnie Grayson after last years event and it seems more will be followed after the comments of yesterday. Will there be another one sometime this summer? August like last year?

There is no doubt that Coach Wamsley does an excellent job with recruiting at AB and the camp was organized extremely well in many phases: (a) he got the kids to show and I was impressed with the quality of players; (b) he had the kids and talent spread correctly among the teams which provided good matchups for evaluation purposes; (c) all kids got fair treatment and analysis; etc. I don't say these things lightly. But with the way he recruits Ohio, he is likely to get an assistant job at a MAC school soon. Nick Dials, who was an assistant under Zimmerman, made it to Toledo and had a stop at Miami, OH. I am more impressed with Wamsley. Zimmerman gave Josh all the credit on Saturday for the whole camp and putting it together. Zimm ain't easy to impress but he was more than thrilled with how well every phase went.

On that note, it appears that Dials will be named head men's basketball coach at Urbana.

This is an interesting development late in the game. DeAundra Murphy has decommitted to Youngstown State. I wonder if Marshall is now offering on the news today that Aleksa Nikolic is leaving the Herd. We were the first to offer Murphy last summer.

As I've said before I really like the recruiting balance of the AB staff. Coach Williams and Coach Wamsley do great jobs covering their perceived areas. Let hope the staff can continue to build off their hard work.

Speaking on your comments of Wamsley and MAC schools and Dials getting the Urbana job, does Coach Zimmerman do a good job of getting his assistants "better" jobs? People in this area are excited at the Dials move probably for the ties to Ohio State.

Interesting that Murphy has already left Youngstown. With all the guards that have signed, would the staff push to get him?

It would be tough but possible. His sister is going to Salem to play ball. Murphy was also offered by Fairmont prior to Youngstown St. He also could follow his Huntington buddy Dunn-Martin to Duquesne. Dunn-Martin is transferring from Akron to play for the Dukes.

I think Zimmerman has done a good job of getting assistants jobs. Dye worked as an assistant upon completion of his degree. A couple of years later he was head coach of Glenville. Clancy works in the NBA for the Mavericks and before that for the Bucks. Dials moved up the ranks. Scott Cooper was an assistant at AB and then moved on to be head coach of IU South Bend. Zach Green played for Greg and coached a year with him. He is now head coach at Logan HS which is not a bad WV gig. I just mentioned Josh going to a MAC school as a hypothesis. He just seems to have great Ohio connections and a feel for talent in that area. It would seem that could be a possibility. Moving from a WV D2 to the MAC has happened a lot lately, ie Jeff Boals was good at University of Charleston and then went to the MAC before landing at Ohio State, Corny Jackson....WV State, etc.

What does each assistant bring to the table in terms of coaching?

Got word of this while sitting at a Taco Bell drive thru a little while ago. Huge get! He decided not to go to Youngstown State. Had big offers including Fairmont State. Up there with Malik Bocook in terms of caliber of recruit. Looks like Coach Wamsley got him to come. Kid is a heck of a player and we have him for 4 years. Incredible!!!!!!

That is a huge pick up. With the guard overhaul this class, I am assuming that none of the guards from last year will be back haha?
