  • Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

Alderson Broaddus moved up 11 spots in the 2018 Best Colleges in the US News & World Report Best Colleges Guide. We are ranked 26th overall as a first-tier South Regional College. We were also rated the 4th best in the Best Value School for academics and affordability. Sports are good, but this means more!!!!

I am also glad to see President Berry is going to stay on with the school for awhile. He has done a fantastic job in my opinion.

First class move by Kentucky Wesleyan's Happy Osborne to send this out. Tatum is now in a good league in Spain. It looked like he was on the same team as Bosley.

I saw that. His junior highlight tape shows nothing. His summer tape is good and shows a better game. He needs some work, but he can run the floor for a guy his size and he can hit the 3 as a trailer on the break. He will have to increase strength big-time. But I get the feeling the staff wants a big that can run the floor and trail with a 3 because these next two years we have some greyhounds. I just don't have time to blog on recruiting right now. I was convinced by an old-timer to come back and coach and take over a team that won 2 games last year. The two we won, I dropped that team from the schedule We are lifting and conditioning 5 days a week. We will continue to lift for 30 minutes after practice. My time is limited among this and work and family. I won't do much on the site for awhile. I will get back on the recruiting stuff in the spring. I had a few former players ask so that is why I put that back out there so that no one thinks there is any thing wrong.. I am lucky to remember to get my football picks in. AB still has a lot of work to do for this season. I expect some slow starts out of the block this season because of the experience we take on early, but this team is far more talented and will create far more problems for opposing defenses. If Davis and Willis stay healthy, then it gives Malik a chance to not be doubled and not to have to play out-of-position. He can really be a deadly 4 on the offensive end. He is super-athletic, can shoot mid-range very well, runs the floor well and can take a PF off the dribble in the open floor and make them look silly. Mike has all the tools coming off a 1st-team JUCO All-American season at Lakeland and Willis has many tools. Mills can be an excellent distributor of the ball and comes from a big-school winning program in Ohio. He was on the big-stage in the state finals in Columbus. Dortch is the big X-factor right now. Mike M and Sam bring good experience back. Both had some monster games the last three weeks of the season. They played very well the last month of the season. If Carmon and Golphin stick their nose to the books, then we have a chance to go real deep of a run next season. And I am not talking deep in the G-MAC. I don't like the fact that they moved the G-MAC/GLIAC crossover out of Philippi. We have to go back to Detroit where we were 2 years ago. That would have been nice after three years of going all over the place representing this conference in these things to be able to host one, especially this season where those two games are somewhat critical to start the season.

                  I am out for now!!!!

Yeah, so what happened there? I know when our schedule first came out we were playing that crossover at AB and then just the other day I heard it was at Wayne St. now so wth?

Same question here. Detroit is a easier trip for me but does not seem fair to AB.

Salem lost 94-91 to Fairmont State last night. I said Adam Williams would change the culture there; he also brought in some serious JUCO talent. He has a lot of connections from his D-I assistant days and with his father. He had to play last year with the old coach's players and their mindset. Not this year.

still no explanation regarding why they moved the G-MAC/GLIAC crossover out of Philippi?

Real quick...what I got.....Lake Superior, AB and KWC were all fine with it being in Philippi. Wayne State apparently made an issue that they went to a G-MAC town last year and weren't doing it again this year. It was then placed to go to LSSU since Wayne got to host two years ago at this time. I think AB nixed that one because that is over 11 hours one way and that is without stops. It would have taken extra missed class time and would have meant getting back to campus at an unreasonable hour OR stay an extra night. I was told AB hosts next year (who knows) and that a medium was reached to go back to lovely Detroit this year. In summary, Wayne State benefits pretty good out of this. It goes with the saying "squeaky wheel......"

That actually makes sense. I was wondering why the G-MAC was hosting two years in a row. I hope they stick with AB hosting next year.

I don't have a problem with it. But the GLIAC did host two years in a row. I believe KWC went Tiffin and Detroit in back-to-back years for the GLIAC/G-MAC crossover.
