ABU up 14-7 @ ODU in 2nd quarter after a QB run of 67 yards for TD. AB has over 10 first downs. Battlers playing well.

Battlers up 20-14 with 6:00 to go in 2nd quarter. Missed XP ugh. AB with 280 yards of total offense.

        Halftime: ABU 27 ODU 24.

AB offense with 300 total yards of offense in that half on the road.

We need to tackle better in space. That is what is killing us on defense.

Men's soccer beat Findlay to move into top four of conference standings. They have a big game Saturday night against Tiffin (#2 position as of now) at home.

I have some info on early basketball injury. It does not look as bad as originally forecast. Surgery was done. It will hurt us first month of games though. I am going up to watch practice next week. If you are AB fan, dm me and I will tell status of injury. Surgery went well and good rehab is needed. I am not to put more than that out there online. Good source told me that some of the transfers are blending in well. Tall, inside presence on offense and defense is working well.

Stephen Dye is working at AB as Director of the Annual Fund.

I saw that we had an African-American graduate from A-B get a good administrative position at the University of Central Florida. I also thought the school got good pub on the lecture series. A couple of those graduates reside minutes from me.

Big football game tomorrow at home. The homecoming slate is very good. Based on twitter and facebook, early indications are that people are coming. Me hopes!

            Oh, and to further add...

ABU is looking at several kids in this area: two Frederick CC kids. Okoye is one of them and looks to still come to us. The Somerville kid at St Maria Goretti HS here in Hagerstown is another one. They are also interested in Nicholas Ahmed of Scotland Prep which is nearby.

Football won 55-27 over Lake Erie. It was 45-13 at half. Men's soccer is losing 2-0 right now at the half to a better Tiffin team.

Rex Pyles Arena has new scoreboards. They look good.

I spoke to Adam Williams, head men's coach at Salem, at a coaching clinic yesterday in Beckley. He told me, and I have known Adam a long time, that Salem administration last March gave him a major commitment towards men's basketball. They took him from 4 scholarships to the D2 maximum 10 scholarships. They also did a makeover of the T. Edward Davis Gym and invested money in it. He showed me pics. Let's keep an eye on Salem men's basketball the next couple of years.....that is some big time financial commitments. Adam certainly has recruiting ties from his days as an assistant at UCF, Marshall and WV Tech. I thought Adam gave an unreal presentation at the clinic. They played much more competitive ball last year as a D2 Independent. I thought he upgraded talent. And that was with 4 schollies. I also got a feel for the situation he inherited from the previous coach....a complete mess. Just FYI.

His roster looks much improved this year. Wesleyan has them coming in and I alerted the coach to be ready.

I don't think he has updated the roster for this season yet. It appears he still has last season's on there. But he has improved the roster for sure. Toppin is rated as one of the top big men returning in D2 by one service that follows D2 hoops.

My posts don't always embed well on this site, but I am showing the school's improvements in some of these tweets. The first one is the fact that they spent five figures to remodel their weight room and get in the proper equipment to run a good strength program.

I saw a tweet saying West Virginia has canceled the exhibition scheduled against ABU? Any idea why?? I'm assuming it's because they're skeered.

NCAA is granting teams permission this year to play an open exhibition against a D-I opponent only if for the purposes of all proceeds going to help the hurricane relief efforts. The NCAA allows D-I teams to scrimmage other D-I teams in pre-season. But it stipulates that the two exhibitions must be closed door. The NCAA is waiving it so that the third can be open to the public against another D-I team. I can't blame them for getting three D-I exhibitions and giving money to hurricane victims. Huggs will make it up to us. His dad played and graduated from AB and Zimmerman was head coach where Huggs dad was an AD.
