Looks like their women are playing at home. Maybe they don't have lights?

Yep. They have not played a night game for men's and women's soccer all year. Women play at 12:30. It is getting darker earlier now. You get a couple of overtimes in either game and it is dark.

I am just surprised they are going all the way down to Charleston. I would think they would try to play at Parkersburg High or Parkersburg South HS.

That's a shame (for them) having the men's and women's games back to back at the same venue would have created a really nice environment for their school.

We play three GLIAC schools the first month of the season in men's basketball.

Ferris State was picked 1st in their division. Grand Valley State was picked 2nd in their division. Those are games in the opening weekend of the G-MAC/GLIAC crossover. Michigan Tech is picked as 3rd in their division which we will play up at Gannon.

We will play all three without Malik Bocook who hurt his knee. That is a terrible blow.

Football wins 60-55 in a wild game where we gave up 48 points in the first half.

Soccer tonight against OVU. Women's basketball scrimmage vs State tomorrow.

Men's basketball won first half of scrimmage against Fairmont State and lost second half. Only one returning starter played in that game with Malik out. We have to be pleased with that. Fairmont was picked second in pre-season MEC poll only two points off West Lib. Fairmont received 5 first place votes. We have some talent....we need to continue to learn.

The women play at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday of this week. Is this a regular season game or exhibition? NKU's website is listing it in a story as the season opener.

At any rate, it is on ESPN+. NKU women beat Pikeville by 50 points the other night. We also play IUP next which is just as tough normally than playing a small D-I. Tough openers for a new coach.

Much different OOC schedule for the new coach. Last year's coach got Bluefield State and Salem (twice). This guy opens with NKU and IUP....then another PSAC and one GLIAC.

Women down 35-18 at the half to Northern Kentucky. Not an exhibition. Not a complete runaway....yet. Women played 1st half pretty tough-nosed. We don't have the depth they do so that will be a big problem.

Down 40 now and will get worse. The new coach inherited no offensive firepower. Not his fault. It will be rough against IUP this weekend. Hard to judge new coach on this season.

No Salem twice or Bluefield State. Add Tiffin twice, NKU and IUP. He needs time and recruiting classes. They play G-MAC games like they did first half, then we have a chance in some games.

Got beat in men's basketball today. I can't write any thing since we mysteriously didn't broadcast the game. I don't get that either. There was no game preview written for it. No social media posts so some may be reminded today. I am not one bit salty because we lost. I figured we would. We were out one quality player and I saw in one tweet from a school employee that Davis was playing with a mask on his face....broken nose I guess. I am not excusing it. I figure we lose with both healthy. Freshmen logged 116 minutes today. Polanco had 12 points in 12 minutes. I am hoping he didn't get hurt. That is good production in that length of time and he started. Davis only played 8 minutes first half. Loines seemed to play a lot second half. Golphin had 14 points in his freshman debut. Shirver was off but played a lot. I don't worry about him. He will be a solid player. Cleveland Horton played 29 minutes as a freshman. I am sure for defense. It won't be easier tomorrow. In the quick video I saw, Bocook did not move well. I have a hard time believing he will be back at the end of the month. It might be a long year; the longest since Vincent's last year as coach. Too early to tell especially since I couldn't see the game. But tough to throw freshmen out there against some of these teams.

How bout Wesleyan. Beat PSAC East favorite West Chester yesterday and then beat Kutztown today. This after Kutztown beat West Lib at West Lib last night. Wesleyan was the team up at West Lib that went 2-0. That game December 31st will be tough as hell down there. Wesleyan gave a good Marshall team a good effort the other night.

I am glad the football team won 51-7 today. We had a good season and return 19 starters for next year. That was one tough schedule this year. We need some more pieces and depth but a lot to look forward to there. I followed the team online all season. Proud of the effort especially since after that first game up at Saginaw, MI. I thought the coach righted the ship. I just wish he hadn't gotten cute up at Walsh last week. Other than that....good job.

The game needs to be broadcast tomorrow against Ferris State. I realize we could lose by 40+. But I want to watch. I will just edit it here.

Ferris State 47 Alderson Broaddus 35 at half.

I don't think any one can complain. Davis with two fouls in three minutes. We had a 19-14 lead, but they stretch it out and Walker is too tough for us.

They go to a 3-2 zone the last part of the half. Too many 3's. Malik would have helped a ton in the middle of the zone offense there.

Transition defense was brutal at times and left guys wide open. Freshman have done alright. Shriver with six. Back side rebounding was real bad at times. 12 turnovers is brutal but give Ferris credit for good defense. Davis has to attack the basket more. They will probably break it open this half. I wish we could have cut it to 6 or 8 before half instead we let it go to 12. Sign of a inexperienced team. Malik will definitely be a big help when he returns....far better passer and better basketball IQ than Simmons or Polanco.

Good thing is defense will get better as the year goes along.
