As expected, there is a grassroots effort to save the UAH hockey team. As of posting this, the fundraiser began 14 hours ago and has close to $70,000 of support, although they have a long way to go and according to the description - not a lot of time...

Especially since those three were left out of the new CCHA, the days of UAH playing varsity hockey was probably numbered anyway. ASU is fine being indy because the school has deep resources and prominent teams the upper midwest and northeast like traveling to the desert in the middle of winter. Extended time without a conference for UAH would just add to the travel budget for a program already underfunded.

Tiffin cut swimming and diving, as well as equestrian back in early May.

Disappointing that 17 of the 21 D1 sports listed are men's sports. There was a thread on another board about the ability of smaller schools to be able to avoid dropping sports; but it seems they should have been more concerned with the D1 schools as there has been more D1 schools than D2 schools dropping sports. The Central Michigan cuts makes them non-compliant with D1 requirements.
Minor notes on Urbana; men's volleyball should be listed with the D1 schools, women's water polo is a D1 sport but this team was not scheduled to begin competition until the Spring 2021 season, and acrobatics & tumbling is not a NCAA sport yet.
It's not all bad. Mississippi College announced on May 11 the addition of women's golf, set to begin in Fall 2020.Last edited by Tech Boys; 05-26-2020, 02:27 PM.

Acrobatics and Tumbling is in the process of becoming and NCAA sport, however. In late January both DII and DIII voted to give it emerging sport status. Due to COVID-19, the planned vote in April for DI did not happen, but the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics recommended that DI approve before the effective date of August 1 this year, and if they cannot by then consider it for the next year.
