They don't do it at Pitt either.

Well ****ing over Flori-duh State didn’t make it more marketable. It just reinforced the notion some teams are entitled to a spot no matter what they do.

Next year at 12 is good for FCS and they should never expand it. Reality is there are just too many teams in the D2 playoffs but they do it to appease everyone which means those who think they are most entitled get pissed off. There is no reason to have 28 teams in the playoffs.

        • The ‘99 4OT title game on ESPN drew a pretty good audience.

FCS and FBS are two different levels. FCS has 24 teams. FBS is going to 12 teams.

I think you have FCS and FBS confused. (That's why I still call FCS 1aa)

I agree with the last part. The problem is compounded because the way they expanded actually made it harder for the best 12 or 16 teams to get in.

                I did mean FBS.

Get rid of the bowls too. Half of the players don’t want to play in them.

Correct. But schools/conferences make money off them because people watch.

It's a shame Texas took Florida State's spot but a situation like this was always going to happen when there's five major conferences and only four slots, especially with a competitive field like we saw this year in FBS. At the end of the day Alabama had a stronger resume than either of the last two in, and Texas had a head-to-head against Alabama, while Florida State lost their starting QB, and that's the real reason they got left out.

Players getting hurt shouldn’t matter..they were undefeated and Alabamastan was not.

The Eagles won the Super Bowl with a backup QB.

And yet, Florida State was unfefeated in a power five conference. Georgia was number one all year until the SEC game and that slid them out of the top 4. Honestly, a 6 team matchup with Texas facing Georgia, Florida State facing Alabama, winner face Michigan and Washington, would have been very interesting this year.

The expansion to 12 teams was to appease..but it should never expand. Eight teams would have been sufficient.

Its not like March Madness which has too many teams but some low seeded Tin Pot School nobody ever heard off can catch fire and go through their bracket…because it’s easier to do that in basketball. Still almost 70 teams is too much but it makes the bracket fanatics happy..
