Not surprisingly majority are QB's and you can only put so many QB's on a list like this.

More surprisingly, 14 of the 36 Cliff Harris finalists did not make the top 100 which had 46 defensive players on it:
    _
    Position Name Height Weight School
DB Aaron Davis 5-11 180 Wheeling
LB Abe Swanson 6-1 220 Grand Valley
DB Amos Coleman III 5-11 185 Texas A&M-Kingsville
    DL Andre Jefferson 6-2 275 Lenoir-Rhyne
    DB Daniel Bone III 6-0 195 CSU-Pueblo
LB Devon Roush 6-1 215 East Central
    LB John Ross Maye 6-0 230 Lenoir-Rhyne
DB Josh Stokes 5-10 180 Slippery Rock
DB Joshua Heyward 6-2 195 Benedict
DL Justin Thomas 6-2 246 Indianapolis
LB Kendall Lightfoot 6-1 240 Western Colorado
    DB Major Williams 6-1 190 Carson-Newman
DB Tre Morrison 6-2 185 Wingate
DB Wyryor Noil 6-0 185 Central Missouri

It comes down to numbers at QB and I don't know who all picks the Cliff Harris list or even see it. Perhaps Brandon did but that list never came up in my discussions with Brandon or any others who help with the list.

Pitt has 2 Offensive guys on the first team. It's weird how that worked out, with them being a defense first team.

    Just a funny observation.

Bulldog....looking at the HH nominees, the 10 of them....9 are QB's. First off..we already have 7 QB's on our Elite 100. We can't have like 16 QB's....that would be absurd. Second, those players are nominated by their SID....they weren't selected by their league as the top guys or the region, etc. If we are taking a total of 7 QB's...I don't have any of those names ahead of ours, if I'm going to be real candid.

When players are nominated for an award by their school..it's them pushing that name forward.

Aside from the all-conference teams, other organizations' teams mean very little to me in our decision process so I likely don't have a clue who is on those lists outside of the winner.

Based upon your post, I was curious how their list could have deviated so far from our list, so I looked up the list of finalists for the Cliff Harris. When I looked up their list, it looked remarkably similar to the Elite 100. In fact, only four players were finalists for the Cliff Harris award and were not a member of our defense. One of those players, Rossy Moore, is from Division 3 Mount Union and obviously not eligible for the D2Football Elite 100.

Is it possible you were looking at the wrong list?

    Why is that surprising?

Who was part of the Cliff Harris process that you feel should have been on the defense, and who would you remove from the defense to include them?

He obviously replaced Mario Anderson from the 2022 list.

Just a few notes to keep in mind from NFL standpoint.

Willie Drew is the only one I expect to get drafted as of now. There are a lot of players that should get a shot in the NFL though.

Benedict CB Heyward is a sleeper name to watch. He did not get All-America from anyone else and did not have great numbers but he is a good player who shut down receivers. Hopefully he will get in the Shrine or the Hula Bowl because there are some teams who think he could turn out to be a really good 6th-7th round pick. The only reason he would likely not go higher than that is lack of ball production.

Just watched the Elite 100 YouTube from last night. Sorry I missed the live viewing. Great show! Appreciate naming Coach Simmons D2 Coach of the Year. Well deserved. Wish Blake Delacruz and Braden Jay could have been named first or second team offensive but know how tough it must be to include guys who will never have impressive numbers because of the nature of the Flexbone offense. Special thanks to Brandon, Witt and all the D2.com guys. You made it another great year. Looking forward to the Spring.

Tell em Kle! (he actually watched the show and was in the comments during the broadcast!)

Wanted to give Brandon kudos on the time and effort that was put into the production for the video..a lot of times his good work gets taken for granted.

If you have the time, give it a spin. Thanks.
