This Pinto dude strikes me as a radical nutcase and I'll leave it at that...

That said, the way things are going in California, I wouldn't be shocked if a potential UCSB team could beat Sad Sac State...

They've got a really good JUCO program at SBCC (the Vaqueros) and the stadium is next to the beach. I'd be happy with that if I lived in $anta Barbara, California.

NAIA Siena Heights University announced today that they will be closing at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year. They are a member of the WHAC along with now "closed" Concordia University Ann Arbor.

It sounds like this announcement was handled poorly by the administration as many employees said they found out about the closure not from their employer, but from the video released to Facebook and the media.

Sadly this will hurt the Adrian area as it is one of the major employers in the area that has already been hit with substantial losses over the years.

From an athletic standpoint, SHU offered 11 mens sports, including football. They offered 12 womens sports including Flag Football.

This will further tighten the availability of roster spots on college athletic teams following the House Settlement and the fact many D1 schools will be instituting roster limits and cutting athletes from teams.

I personally would hate to be a recent HS graduate or graduate in the next couple years with a deisre to be a college athlete.

Totally agree. They set that 2028 date, they better be made to keep it

The CCHA makes money after paying the bills, there's no reason to think the NSIC couldn't/wouldn't. You brought up expenses, but the leagues we are in actually make money. Not saying it's Big Ten money, but it wouldn't be a detriment to the league and would only increase eyes on the product.

D1 hockey becomes the marquee sport for the conference, just as it is the sport for Duluth, St Cloud, Mankato, Bemidji, and Augustana (whether Augie realizes it or not). That means all the money and attention will have to be directed there. There's another thread wondering how the NSIC coaching salaries compare across the members. Those salaries would be nothing compared to the hockey coaching salaries. The hockey schools would demand all the attention because it's D1. Just compare the hockey video production of those 5 schools compared to their basketball and football broadcasts. I have no problem with the idea of the NSIC sponsoring D1 hockey- I just don't think it's practical.

I see. Calling those sports "D1" was definitely improper terminology on my part, but I really believed men's volleyball at least was D1, as I thought National Collegiate Division was only for sports with just one division (D1/2/3 combined), and men's volleyball has a separate D3 championship. I assumed that since both hockey and men's volleyball only had two divisions, they had a similar divisional structure, but looks like the NCAA really does classify them differently. Sorry about that
