That's a true point - I just want MSU out of the CCHA so bad I might actually enjoy the thought lol.

I think regardless of what the CCHA teams want to do, UMD/SCSU would never leave the NCHC. It would be like leaving the SEC for CSUA or something.

Also if the NSIC had balls they would force SCSU and UMD to join the conference in hockey if Jamestown and/or Minot promoted their club teams to NCAA D1. That's being nice as I would have kicked SCSU and UMC out years ago for dropping Football
I don't know what the ACHA's rules are for who goes where. That being said - in a competitive sense - it comes down to money and recruiting ability. ACHA I is roughly on-par with NCAA DIII (and a handful of programs on-par with NCAA DI). If the club guys want to take on that commitment, then sure - it's probably possible.

I think logistics would be the big hurdle - finding 8 schools to run a hockey program is easy. Getting the ADs, Presidents, and the NSIC to all agree everything required to form the conference is the tough part. The other thing is - what about MSU/UMD/BSU/AU/SCSU? My vote is to not include them - but that might not go over so well. If they were blocked out from making decisions on something their primary conference was doing, that might throw a wrench into things.

FAIR WARNING: This reply is dripped with more snark and sarcasm than some of my usually sarcastic replies...

Just when I thought the People's Republic of California couldn't get any more insane, J Luke Wood, the president of California State University (comma) Sacramento decides to be the biggest idiot in Sacramento, leapfrogging ahead of the owner of the (Las Vegas via Philadelphia, Kansas City, Oakland, West Sacramento, but thankfully not Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga) A's, John Fisher, the idiot who owns the Sacramento Kings whose name slips my mind at the moment and pretty much anyone associated in state government who works in Sacramento. It's laughable that Wood would call FCS "JV football" compared to FCS when Sad Sac State was, at best, a mediocre to putrid program for many years.

This is the same Sad Sac State football program who only managed one double-digit win season in program history... only to see their head coach Troy Taylor make a lateral move to become head coach at Stanford (whose football program might as well be FCS). The Hornets have since regressed past mediocrity and into god awful in the succeeding two seasons. If "Village Idiot" Wood had his way, he'd find a way to lure Nick Satan out of retirement to coach the Sad Sac State football program into FCS... and Sad Sac State would still get their doors blown off by Texas State, let alone Texas. (Maybe Marshawn Lynch is available...)

This is the same Sad Sac State who recently hired Mike Bibby as their head men's basketball coach and, for some inexplicable reason, Shaq as the "general manager" of said program.

This would be the same Mike Bibby who played for the Kings back in the day (when the Kings were actually selling out the old Arco Arena) and whose coaching experience consists of coaching his son's AAU team and a couple of high school coaching stints in Arizona (one of said stints ended with some rather salacious allegations involving a teacher - we'll leave it at that; the other stint ended after 10 games).

And that would be the same Shaq who once referred to the Kings as the "Queens" during his time with the Lakers, so I would've thought that he'd be as welcome in Sacramento as Charles Barkley is in San Antonio.

And Village Idiot Wood thought he could get Sad Sac State into FBS. I knew Sacramento tends to turn people into complete morons, but holy crap. At least if this whole "President of California State University (comma) Sacramento doesn't work out, he could run for a seat in the State Assembly... he'd fit in perfectly with those idiots.

BTW, this is one of several YouTube videos that pretty much sums up Sac State's half-baked FBS dreams in a nutshell. And one that questions the sanity of the powers that be at Sad Sac State. And one that raised red flags about the scheme... And so on and so on and so on...

I'm still convinced that the three Texas WAC members will work their way into the Southland with the rest of the non-HBCU FCS programs in Texas and Louisiana. It just makes the most sense geographically, but, then again, we have two Pacific Coast teams competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference because ... reasons.

The first thing that comes to my mind when someone takes a comment down from a social media outlet is that they're embarrassed. LOL

I don't know the right answer but if Conference Carolinas can have Developmental (JV?) Championships and other NCAA conferences sponsoring esports why not allow the NSIC to have a conference in the ACHA for its club teams.
