My mom worked at KU at the time so I got free tuition at KU and 1/2 off at Cal (or any of the other 13 state schools). The only reason I transferred to Cal was because of my major. I can say that I use a lot of what I learned at Cal at my job so it was totally worth the trip to Western PA. Getting back to the point, the SAT is a silly way to test, but in defense of the system I guess they need to gauge a student to weed out the one's who have really low scores.
keep in mind that you guys would need to add about 200 pts to your scores to compare with today's SAT's

Blame another generation. Nice move. I'm the same age as you and I'm "surviving" just fine in 2018.

I went to college. Graduated near the top of my class in my major and had three good job offers at graduation. I make a good salary, am paying off my student loans, and am at a great place in my life professionally and financially.

The actual problem in 2018 is the millennials that lay blame to previous generations, the government, and everybody else for why they aren't successful. Maybe don't go to college for basket weaving and partying. Go to school, graduate with a degree that was difficult to achieve in a tough and competitive major or program, and then see the results of your hard work. All these out of work recent college grads. Go check what they went to school for. You'll find a common theme. And while we're at it, let's take two years off after school, go travel and see the world, then blame everybody else when we run out of money and can't get a job because we are two years out of school and haven't yet entered the workforce.

It didn't but their persona is of a much higher esteem than any state school. People WANT to go to Penn State. Too many settle for our schools.

Exactly. Google how much the state pays to keep shuttered prisons shuttered.

I don't think so. Right now, the average Slippery Rock student pays $97,508 for four years. Research also shows that a college degree can earn you over a million dollars more in your lifetime than if you didn't go to college. So theoretically that big sticker price pays for itself ten-fold.

It would be interesting to take on now.

Me too (sorry). Instead of sitting around jaw jacking about it, take some action and make it better.

You'd love the new math in schools.

                        2+2 = 7

Actually, its "Describe the following equation: 2+2=7"

There are many, many factors. But the reputation is the reputation ... and it doesn't help. Put it that way.
