What's really interesting about this plan is that there is no clear end game.

I think the end game is contingent on what happens on each campus enrollment-wise over the next few years.

What hasn't been covered is that for the last few years Kutztown and West Chester have been providing administrative support to other PASSHE campuses most notably West Chester handling some back end administrative positions at Cheyney. The only clarification made by the chancellor is that they're not closing campuses with these moves.

Another thing that hasn't been covered is the assistance IUP has provided to SRU over the last 20 or so years.

I don't know the specific year but when IUP and SRU became "sister institutions" a couple of decades ago IUP faculty basically developed many of the academic programs that are succeeding so well at SRU. Some even better than the corresponding programs at IUP.

In football, every year it's us against them. That hasn't been the case in academics, though.

What's really interesting about this plan is that there is no clear end game. I have several friends who work at both Edinboro and Slippery Rock and professional contacts at the remaining four universities. My friends at Slippery Rock are under the assumption that they're just helping Edinboro get their footing back while at Edinboro there is a defeated attitude that they're being taken over by SRU. No party has articulated one way or the other. Lots of local commotion that has no more substance than gossip. There is a major system-wide retrenchment coming. 10 of the 14 schools have informed the faculty union that full-time professor positions will be identified by October 30 to be eliminated on July 1, 2021. Good people will be lost but expenses will be brought closer to expected revenues. I have hope that through pain good comes to the system (especially Edinboro).

Those are good questions. Whatever Driscoll is privy to he should probably keep to himself.

My own thinking is that from an administrative point of view it's most efficient to have one administration oversee a student population of 15k-20k students. Bloom/LHU/Mansfield fits that model.

Edit: Well, maybe throw in ESU. Bloom can be the main campus - as long as LHU can keep a D1 Wrestling team.

Driscoll said the IUP community is excited about the opportunity to share infrastructures, to help other PASSHE schools and to benefit from their help. He also noted that West Chester and IUP will not be included in planned integration of the smaller PASSHE schools.

They haven't sold it yet. PASSHE voted to allow them to sell it. The state legislature still has to approve it. All this work to divest of a property not being used.

It's a nice piece of property if you're a developer. The locals treat it like a park. But they also never really embraced the idea of attending there. They're too accustomed to driving 25 minutes.

While paying the bond is the biggest cost, there is still maintenance, repair and utilities that have to be paid. Thats not a small cost. When schools are shaking the couch cushions to find spare change just to pay the electric bill, the $'s spent just to keep one building open has to look pretty inciting.

Of course as pointed out, who the heck would buy such a thing?

I agree 'some' banks will still be needed but the days of, say, S&T, having 7 locations JUST in Indiana will soon be long gone. Personally, I don't think I've been inside an actual bank in probably 7-8 years.
