This is a given no matter what. I don't think anyone's proclaiming that the Rock is a national contender.

They are still the favorite by far to win the PSAC, and are one of the favorites to win the SR.

    • As Rock pulls away from Millersville (42-21 with about 7 minutes left), it's another disaster in the making for the Big 12:

South Alabama 23, Oklahoma State 0 at the half... in Stillwater.

Mind you, Okie State is playing South Alabama from the Sun Belt, not Nick Satan's Alabama of the SEC. It's going to be a long season for Mike Gundy...

For me, the real test will be next week at home against West Chester, whom they haven't beaten since 2002.
Nah there's levels to this stuff. This is a step but there are different levels

Why? Lol. Tell me. Hear this every year until the day they aren't.

              I don't understand the sass. You're usually fairly even-headed.

They returned a lot from a team that was already pretty darn good last season. They've been the most consistent team so far this season. Shepherd finally started to look good in this week's second half, but I'm not sure they can run the table in a retooling year. ESU has looked good but still has a lot to prove before being elevated to the point of conference favorite. IUP has already shown their vulnerability.

It's not like they're perennial chokers, it was only 3 full seasons ago that the Rock were regional champions.. They've looked good against half-decent opposition this season. Saying they're the favorites doesn't mean they're guaranteed to win the PSAC, but I don't see how anyone else can lay any sort of claim to being the conference favorites right now.

Heard the same gym teacher love fest last two years. Let's wait until they play a real big boy. Walk-ons don't qualify. WCU is a yearly hype product.

I am even. Thank you. Let's just see SRU play IUP and Cal before declaring them for the Big 12.

Again with the strawman. Nobody is saying this. I'll just chalk it up to a bad day...

Slippery Rock has probably looked the best so far. Shepherd will continue to get better as the season goes along and if I was forced to bet right now, I’d say it will be SRU and Shepherd in the State Game. Kutztown is also a possibility with ESU maybe a longer shot. IUPbigIndians has a point though. We’ve seen this before from SRU and then they get beat by IUP and it all changes.

IUP, in my opinion, is as close to finishing 8-3 as they are 10-1. I’d be really surprised if SRU loses more than one game during the regular season.

Just want to point out that IUP beat Ashland by 7 and #1 Ferris State beat Ashland by 10. I know all about the perils of comparing scores but could the new portal/transfer world be an equalizer for the PSAC versus the big powers of D2? The PSAC teams are doing well in getting quality transfers.

BTW, the first time FSU took the lead over Ashland was in the 4th quarter.

Tons of ranked teams lost yesterday:

#1 Ferris State (to FCS Montana)
#6 West Florida (to FCS Florida A&M)
                            #10 Angelo State
                            #13 Northwest Missouri State
                            #21 CSU Pueblo
                            #23 Assumption
                            #24 Wingate
                            #25 Saginaw Valley State

                              No sign of Falco.
I'm not familiar with him, so you certainly saw that more than I did. I was barely aware Stoner was on the roster. The original poster said No. 8 was warming up, so I pointed out that was Falco. So we've already played three QBs three games into the season — shades of last season. If the Raiders don't start cleaning it up, I see no certain wins on the remainder of the schedule, and, yes, I'm aware we play Lock Haven. We'll see how the Bloom games goes this week. Given the results so far, we're likely underdogs against Millersville and East Stroud. West Chester has become completely unpredictable in recent years.

Stoner was a prolific QB for a 6A club at York. More than 5,200 career yards, two-time All-State. (Of course, he had Khalid Dorsey and Dayjure Stewart as his feature backs ...)

He spent a year as a walk-on at WVU before coming to Ship.
