ROCK D got carved up by Mercyhurst in first half. A big KO return and punt return plus 5 turnovers(all 5 turned into Rock tds) led to the 75 points

I can't help but think that a Cal loss to Rock would keep them out, barring massive chaos in the other conferences. Yes, they beat IUP, but I still don't trust them to the point where I think they can beat the Slippys.

They're in cruise control. But they give up too many yards and points. Some of that is garbage when the outcome is decided but eventually it will bite them. I don't see them as semifinalists though.

2. Tiffin 6-0 - ODU, @ Findlay
3. Frostburg State 5-1 - WV State, @Charleston, @ Fairmont State
4. Charleston 5-0 - NDC, @ Fairmont State, Frostburg State (this is 3 consecutive weeks starting this week)
5. East Stroudsburg 5-1 - @ Shepherd, California
6. Shepherd 5-1 - @ Millersville, East Stroudsburg
7. Assumption 4-1 (via Earned Access)- @ New Haven, @ Bentley

Looking through his site ( https://inkblotsports.com/d2stats/2324/mfb/index.html ), it appears Cal has better metrics than Shepherd, but lost H2H and is now the one being bumped in favor of Assumption for earned access. So Cal is technically #7 and Assumption #8.

New Haven 4-1 at #9 and Kutztown 4-2 at #10. Kutztown's SOS is pretty solid at the moment, especially with Assumption doing well. Will be interesting if they win out but lose to SRU in the state game for a 3rd loss. I don't believe a state game participant has been shut out of the playoffs since it came back.

Actually in 2011, SRU went to Kutztown for PSAC Championship game and lost 21-14 (I still contend the Kutztown QB was over the line of scrimmage on the TD to tie the game). Rock was left out of NCAA Playoffs.

They should be almost a lock to make the playoffs unless they go completely flat, but doing something in them is another matter. Our region has been outclassed recently and the recruiting pie out here is sliced up too many ways.

There’s a strong possibility the PSAC will only get three (or even just two) teams in. I think Slippery Rock is a lock and despite some doubters, they’re the best team I’ve seen this year and I fully expect them to be Cal. The East is very interesting. There’s a scenario where Kutztown could make the State Game yet be left out in favor of East Stroudsburg and Shepherd should the Bears lose. Realistically, ESU and Shepherd will finish with two losses or less. I expect one of those two to finish with one loss. Kutztown’ s SOS would have to be enough to carry them over a team with one less loss. They do have head-to-head wins over both ESU and Shepherd, and also Cal should it come to that. If Cal loses to Slippery Rock (likely), they would need to root for an ESU win over Shepherd and hope for a favorable result in the State Game.

Lot’s of scenarios and it’s going to be a fun watch down the stretch.

No consistency, can't get anything sustained on offense really. Still time to try and pull it together for a playoff run, and I have faith in Ernie and Kline to get it there too. The talent is there to threaten for another region title.

Great summary! All I can comment on is the NE-10. I've seen New Haven twice - a shadow of the 2021 &; 2022 squads. Big drop off at QB. I think Aasumption runs the table.to go 9-1 and get the only NE-10 bid. Bentley should be 4-0 but lost 2 games by 1 pt. [WC & NH]. But they aren't the team they've been the last 2 seasons. The coaching carousel has resulted in some lean recruiting years. Falcons have zero depth along the O & D lines.

Agreed. NH QB room is a mess and their QB1 is
now injured. The RB1 is also injured too. Kicker has been out too, so they don’t do anything longer than an extra point. That being said, still should have beat Frostburg if they had any second half offense.

A Kutz/Cal championship gives ESU a date with Slippery Rock
