Here is the schools in order by head coach salary. There are three distinct groups of salaries. The bottom three are the only 5-figure salaries and it would take Commonwealth an extra $20k a year to get Mulrooney into the middle of the pack before everyone else gets a raise.
West Chester
Indiana
Kutztown
California
Slippery Rock
Shippensburg
Millersville
Clarion
East Stroudsburg
Bloomsburg
Shepherd
Lock Haven
Edinboro

With all due respect to yout insight, the RMU job is wayyyyyy better than IUP job. The IUP job is not that great of a job. Curt couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. Brutal admissions, middle school facilities and absolutely no funds from the university. In addition minimal cash for assistant coaches. Not even close . Tort or Lutz should jog to Coraopolis for an interview.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
Dude at RMU is toast. Tomorrow is irrelevant.
I'd rather have the IUP/SRU job than Bobby Mo any day of the week.

I'd argue IUP and SRU jobs are better than RMU. Yes, RMU is D1, the salary is presumably higher, and the scholarship "support" is higher, but that's about it. RMU has a newer stadium but its one-sided (with some nice interior spaces) and small but no concession stand or ticketing. They literally use rolling carts and a trailer for merch & meals. Video board, one president's box, and newer turf but that's about it. Overlooks University Boulevard and Moon Plaza. If IUP redid their home bleachers they're instantly better.Originally posted by Iupgh View Post

RMU isn't a traditional college so you have to recruit guys who will study accounting or engineering and play football. Its also difficult to transfer in/out of because they have so few general education requirements. Its also landlocked along a busy commercial street in a suburban community that doesn't embrace the university being there. TSure, RMU can get paid $350k to fly to Colorado and get hosed by Air Force.
IUP has a vibrant off campus experience with a town that doesn't require hopping on I-376 to do things beyond Sheetz and Walmart. You can live off campus and walk to/from things. IUP also has a traditional liberal arts general education requirement with a MUCH more traditional set of majors. RMU doesn't have safety science, exercise science, or most humanities programs. There is no off campus party scene at RMU because students live in regular apartment complexes with people living in Moon Township. The "college" bar is down in Coraopolis. $45 Uber each way to go out on the South Side.
IUP has tradition. They've won. They've put guys into the NFL. RMU has Hank Fraley. here is virtually no tradition for football. Their best season was during the non-scholarship days. Any connection to Joe Walton and the 70s Steelers is gone. These kids and maybe even their parents are too young to remember Bernard Clark and Rod Holder from those Miami teams. IUP has a decent chance to win the conference most years. I don't see RMU doing that unless they limp back to the NEC for football.
Football at RMU is probably the #3 men's sport for both the school, students, and alumni and I don't see that changing. At IUP its #2 for the school and students but #1 for alumni. Basketball is king at RMU and keeps them D1. Hockey is #1 for students and just received a major infusion of funds and support thanks to the previous president incorrectly betting his legacy (and job) on eliminating hockey to prop up football.
SRU doesn't have IUP's money but they have a better stadium and better attendance. Nothing against Todd Garzarelli, but Roberta Page is probably the best AD in D2.

SRU draws better but IUP does pretty well. Stadium-wise, they are both dumps.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post

Really? I'd contend IUP and The Rock both have stadiums that compare at least even with Ship. Ship gets the state track championships, if only for central location.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post

There are some pretty venues -- the original subject of this thread right near the top of the list. But I'd put your two stadiums up there for being utilitarian.
