Yep, good for the 3rd/4th spot PSAC teams there for sure. Especially ESU, they might not even need to beat Shepherd to stay in it. Also the 2nd place GMAC team could be a big benefactor. If it goes chalk that Findlay vs Tiffin game in the last week of the season will be round 1 of the playoffs essentially.

Looks like Charleston is leader and that is it. New Haven from NE10, and GMAC Ashland being the frontruners for those conferences. Findlay and Tiffin still hvae to play each other, so 1 more guaranteee loss there. Sound about right?

Assuming Kutztown beats Shepherd, then ESU has a chance if they lose to Shepherd, but they would need some help from the GMAC, and/or complete chaos in the NE-10. If the GMAC holds chalk then the GMAC would definitely get two over a two-loss ESU, which leaves only three spots for the PSAC unless the NE-10 cannibalizes itself out of the playoff picture. And I don't know how a two-loss ESU would jump over Kutztown, Rock, or the Coal Bowl winner.

If Shepherd beats Kutztown, then ESU is donezo if they lose to Shepherd. They would be the third team from the PSAC East in line, and the PSAC East is not getting three teams into the playoff.

Well Assumption beat New Haven today. That makes things more interesting for the NE10

The saving in travel expenses alone would be a big help. Currently, SFU's average one way trip to any NEC opponent is 268 miles. That average includes short hops to Duquesne and RMU. Should they drop into the PSAC, no trip including X-OVERS to ESU, WCU and SHEP would even rise to that mileage. The more I think of it the more logical it seems, but talk is cheap so we can only wait and see. Could be the Home Office may be helping spread this talk to frighten Frostburg into making the jump. Time will tell.

How good is Charleston this year? Are they actually a strong team or do they only look good because they play in a weak conference?

I think they're better than last year with possibly the best back in the country. You don't need me to remind you how solid they were last year.

And they DID beat the 2nd best team in your own conference... right?

Possible NE10 cannibalism means more PSAC playoff teams? Seeing a lot of ugly games in the NE10, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of offenses that could compete at a high level.

Yes the G'EAGLES did beat the VULCANS by 4 pts at home. The correct question is would they still be undefeated if they had to face WCU, SRU and IUP instead of UW, UNC-P and CONCORD. Purely a guess,.but I'll say no.

I understand the point you are trying to make but west chester,, lock haven, gannon, CLARION are not remotely good teams either.

Shepherd used to do this every year. But all of those teams you listed above would finish top 3 in the MEC this year. Charleston will be a force in the playoffs though, and any team taking them lightly will lose.

They should be well-rested. The MEC is historically bad this year.

Agreed, I don't remember it being this bad at the bottom but perhaps it was. WVW, WL, and Concord are pathetic this year.

                              Per InkBlot's site- https://inkblotsports.com/d2stats/2425/mfb/sr1.html

                              1. Charleston 8-0- Win against Cal looks fantastic on paper. Schedule anchors the next 2 weeks in WL and WVW (combined 2-14) will most likely push them down a peg at the end.
                              2. Kutztown 8-0- Just a touch behind on SOS to Charleston. Schedule anchors also the next 2 weeks, but state game will be a bump to the top if they manage to win it.
                              3. California 7-1- Got through the Rock/IUP gauntlet. Should cruise to the state game against Kutztown and gets them at home.
                              4. Slippery Rock 6-1- Losing to Cal may have been a blessing to get healthy for the playoffs. Play 3 below .500 squads to finish, should cruise to the playoffs.
                              5. Ashland 6-2- SOS is best in region. 8-16 record combined of remaining 3 opponents, should also cruise to a playoff berth but most likely on the road.
                              6. East Stroudsburg 7-1- Big one against Shepherd in 2 weeks.
                              7. Findlay 7-1- SOS is poor, but will get a boost in the last 3 weeks. Tiffin in the last week will be a playoff game for them.
                              8. Assumption 5-2- Huge win over New Haven this week. Might have wrapped up the NE10 with it. EA looks likely to come into play for the NE10.
                              9. New Haven 5-2- Big Loss, see Assumption above.
                              10. Tiffin 6-2
                              11. Bentley 6-2
                              12. IUP 5-3

Lots of football to be played, but the top 6 is looking pretty defined at the moment with the last spot most likely going to the NE10 in EA. Doesn't appear to be any "big" games this week in region as most of the top 10 here is taking on teams they should handle with ease. Probably will look mostly the same at the end of the weekend.
