My view, which is probably not a popular one and is not going to happen, is that they need a division with a cap of about 15-20 scholarship equivalencies. The jump from zero to 36 is quite a leap, and it's a leap that most schools obviously aren't making. I figure you might get 80-100 schools in a division with a 20-scholarship cap. Make another division with a 40 cap, similar to the current division 2, and let the teams that have bigger football aspirations play there. In any given year, you probably only have a couple of dozen teams, if that, who are playing top-level Division 2 football now, and they basically beat the crap out of everyone else.

Almost. "OC" calls and coordinates passing game at Shep. HC does run game.

2. The QB at Shep was not the problem. HC hired an "OC" that had never called an offense. History as a Def Coord. The QB was 3rd in the nation with 69.8 pass completion. Very athletic and has a very strong arm. To the best of my knowledge he had a few FCS offers and a major PWO.

Joey McCracken (Ship QB) announced on Instagram that he is medically retiring from football. He most recent injury is a torn labrum. Three straight seasons of season ending injuries.

I had a chance to talk to him briefly a couple of weeks back, and he indicated he wouldn't be playing again. I think it's a very smart decision on his part.
