If it isn't big time FBS, most of them wouldn't have any clue about it. Kind of a shame considering in their early days ESPN was known for giving a platform the very things they don't know anything about now.

Now, being he grew up 40 minutes from IUP and used to party here a lot, well, he should have got it correct.

What's funny about that is that McAfee is from Plum, a big time feeder of IUP. They're about 45 minutes apart on route 286.

But Pat isn't known for his brain.

ESPN had nice article about Curt on the front page of the website a little while back, of course the article repeatedly referred to IUP as IU-Pennsylvania. It's likely Pat didn't write his own material and just read whatever intern wrote down for him for show notes.

Mark Madden calls it "bro sports" or "bro culture" and its very sad that that is what sports is all about. Commentators are just the loudest people with the hottest takes, meanwhile the best players are the biggest divas with the biggest contracts. It used to just be headlines but now people like Pat feed into the drama. I find it hard to say "football is for everyone" when its really only for the loudest, most beer die playing, most jersey collecting, sports betting, Madden 25/26/27/28 pre-orderer. We could have a whole thread on just this.

Jason Kelce is the worst out of any of these guys. I'm not sure why the prerequisite to be in sports media is to rip off your shirt and shotgun beers. I'm in the exact age group of the people they are trying to target with that stuff, and I think it's just horrible. Pat is a close second to Kelce for me. I used to think his act was sort of funny, but he's so far off the rails now.

I mostly like Mark Madden. He can still be a shock jock type, but he does it in the traditional media way. He's not changing or diving into bro culture. Nobody beats his hockey talk. And he tells it like it is pertaining to the Steelers and the NFL. His hatred for Pat Narduzzi makes every word that comes out of his mouth about college sports unlistenable, but I take the good with the bad in that regard. Bottom line, I was glad he re-upped for two additional years. The sports talk show world in Pittsburgh will be sad without him.
