I think Raymond Monica deserves some credit for making Kutztown University football relevant. He coached the team to back to back playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011, and also coached the program to its first PSAC Championship in 2011.

Wow, I totally forgot that Coach Monica was a Kutztown. Most HU fans should be really familiar with him from his time at Arkansas Tech

I certainly think we will put up some points as well. We can score alot and very quickly, sometimes almost too quick to be honest.
To me this is really where the game will be decided... on the line of scrimmage. I will say Kutztown offense is just a way better matchup with what the Bison Defense wants to do and will be the best defense they've faced all season besides IUP. HU typically wins the line of scrimmage on first and second down putting teams back in the 3rd and long. Just allows a pash rush to pin their ears back and get after the QB. Previously HU has always been stout against the run, but this is relatively a very young defense and I've seen more teams get a better push then in the past. If Kutztown and can string drives along and have good rushing success on early downs, it'll definitely keep this game close and very interesting.

Same thing can be said with the Kutztown D-line vs HU O-line. Who can get a better push? If the B-Back isn't getting touched until at least 2 yards past the line of scrimmage, its going to be a long day for KU.

Yes I would agree he would be our top guy but he got hurt last week. Hopefully he can go on Saturday.

Jim Clements was able to step in, make the program more relevant, and reach the heights it now enjoys today.

This is just my personal opinion of course. Clements might have had the same level of success without Monica having those two good seasons, but it feels like those 2010 and 2011 seasons helped lay the foundation.
I think you're right. Monica didn't make KU a regular in the top 5 but he gave them some legitimacy for the recruits and coaches (and donors) to take that program beyond the "PSAC East champs or bust" mentality.

Folmar was the link between Monica and Clements. Those two sustained Monica's level and Clements (along with his longevity) have allowed Kutztown to be what they are.

          • Bucknell just fired their coach.

Would that be something that Clements would be interested in??

Don't you put that evil on us now! My anxiety can't take it until Bucknell makes an announcement.

Bucknell seems like a modest jump up..maybe if Villanova came calling…

                • For any KU fan, doesn’t Coach Clements have a weekly radio show and if so how do I listen to it?

He doesn't, but there are some interviews from this year you can watch.

A long interview he did with the AFCA earlier in the year

                    • As much as it pains me to say this I will be rooting for the Golden Bears tomorrow. I don't really want another East team to win the natty before BU but this is the first time a PSAC team has hosted in nearly 10 years and per Massey this is the best that one of our teams has been ranked this late in the season since either 2007 Cal or the 90s IUP teams that finished as runner-ups twice. I'm hopeful that KU can at least break through the semis to improve our conference's image and increase the odds of a future PSAC semi rep hosting in the future and if it wasn't for some appointments I can't get out of I would have gone to this game.

We appreciate the begrudging support lol. But it's probably a good thing you can't go to the game. Gonna be a cold one and campus will be really busy for the game + graduation on the same day.

I asked a few friends and family (two of whom were KU grads) if they were interested but got shrugs from them due to weather, travel, or last-minute Christmas shopping. If I could have cobbled together a group I would go. I went to enough cold weather games when I was a BU student that I think I can deal with it and I did get three credits from a summer course at KU so I'm a tiny bit of a Golden Bear. Since KU isn't really one of BU's historical rivals (ESU and LHU fit that bill better) I can root for them here without too much guilt.
