I guess we will see...

I'm not sure it would be in Mitchell's best interest to promote from within. His biggest problem is the system in place and you're not going to fix the system in place by promoting someone from within that system. He has reached the end of the line of the patience of many fans and I would imagine that if he wants to buy himself more time, it will be by way of a total refresh with an OC from the outside. An internal promotion just sends him down the road Mark Dantonio paved.

I'm talking about the offense only. We are going to be limited on offense no matter who the OC is.

I dont think GVSU is in dire straights but Coach Mitchell is looking for a new OC to take them back to the Natty level that they expected to be at. Honestly GVSU was a few plays away from a perfect season as well as a few plays away from a 7-4 season as well. Hopefully a new OC will take advantage of all the returning talent and get GVSU back to the promise land.

Definitely agree that this needs to be a systemic/schematic overhaul, and that a simple internal promotion won't facilitate that. I realize that a full overhaul is no small undertaking, but the evidence in support of it is more than overwhelming (IMO) at this point. A big change/shift is definitely in order.

Is Mitchell the kind that will give up complete play calling control to a new guy?
