  • Region 3 pre-season picks for the Post-season

I posted this topic yesterday on the GAC Forum. Thought our friends to the north of us might have fun giving your thoughts as well.

With just under two weeks before the start of the 2023 season, why not go out on the limb and pick who you think will be in the final Region 3 Rankings and make the playoffs. Not a listing of the order of finish but which teams from the four conferences will make the final cut?

I will start by saying that the GAC, GLIAC and MIAA will have two teams with the remaining team coming form the GLVC.

GAC: Harding, Ouachita (sorry Henderson State. I really hoped you might make it too)
    GLIAC: Ferris State, Grand Valley
    MIAA: Nebraska-Kearney, Pittsburgh State
    GLVC: Indianapolis

I think 4 of the 7 are about as much as a lock that can be: FS, GV, NW and Pitt. The GAC winner will be in, I’ll go with Harding. I don’t see UIndy loosing more than 2 total games and 1 conf game at the most. So there’s six. The 7th team is a toss up, if there is a GAC team with 1 or 2 losses they will be in. Davenport will be 8-2 but will probably have a weak SoS, their non-conference schedule is super weak. I say OBU goes 9-2 or 10-1 and gets in over DU.

            Ill say:
            1- Pitt - 11-0
            2 - GV - 9-1
            3 - NW - 10-1
            4 - FS - 8-1
            5 - Harding - 10-1
            6 - UIndy - 10-1
            7 - OBU - 9-2

              MIAA - Pitt, Northwest
              GLIAC - GV, FSU
              GLVC - UIndy
              GAC - OBU, HU

              Steady seven

                GLIAC GV and Ferris
                GLVC Indy
GAC Harding, Henderson (Hendy just to be different than everyone putting OBU in there)

Congrats to Pitt for moving back down to NAIA where the games don't matter and neither do the Championships.
