On the QB side Gundy is now at ESU and I would presume the starter? Pedigree doesn't always mean success but as someone said in another thread the returning HH winner barely touched the field at SIU and look at him now, and Gundy got some PT at OK State. Say what you want about nepotism, that still playing time in the Big12 or 7 or 16.

UCM, they reloaded on O including some massive D1 OLine transfers. Maybe I missed it but doesn't seem they did much on defense? Maybe they are betting on some of their younger players to make a big leap. O is fun but doesn't win Natty's ask Dick Vermeils Chiefs.
Pitt. Even with changes hard to rank the back to back MIAA champs lower than this. Depth on both lines and new system on offense will have to be navigated. Tough Week 0 game could put Pitt on thin ice and make it where we almost have to win out or only have 1 more loss.
MW . They came on last year and look like a team heading in the right direction. In an earlier thread I had NW higher but maybe I'm buying the NW sandbagging, maybe I'm jaded because of our Tim Beck experience but I think MW finishes ahead of NW this year.
NW. Almost put them one lower and if they slide back this year then you have basically only next years seniors who will have been to the playoffs plus some redshirts. The end of last year was a cupcake schedule, hope your younger guys got some playing time.
MoSo. I'm an Atiba fan. The man and the coach. After roughly 3 billion poor hires and a dumpster fire of an athletic department, they got this one right. He built this team the way he wanted and has shown improvement every year. Now he has to get over the hump. If Pitt's O falters, if MW backslides or NW continues their slide to Lincoln status MoSo could easily move up.
FH. After a disastrous 2022 Brown righted the ship last year and played almost everyone closely in their losses. Still a gap but played better. They have a tough start to the season and could easily be 0-3. If they are 2-1 watch out!
ESU. Too much inconsistency to put them higher, even with a D1 QB coming in. Have no idea what else they lost or gained and haven't taken the time to look. They open with what should be a win, then they play Angelo State who Hays played in week 1. Not that the transitive property works, but it could tell us a few things about both teams. After Angelo State its Pitt, MW and NW. Will ESU be 1-4 or 5-0? The answer is probably 2-3 or 3-2. Their season could be done before it starts.
UCO. I rate them higher every year and every year I get burned. So between my low ranking and Jimbo Slice's humbleness and Dorrell having his guys now as upperclassman maybe this is the year. But based on last years qb play and some of the other skill player gaps I just can't go any higher.
WU this was a bad team last year and I'm not sure what going out and scheduling Colo school of Mines as your OOC opponent accomplishes. Maybe there were limited options? Schurig has shown himself to be a competent but not great coach or maybe its a recruiting issue. Either way, another bad year and that seat is getting hot. He has been there since 2002!!
UNK. Sorry Lopers someone has to be last and maybe you are better than Washburn. But Schurig has proven more over 22 years in the MIAA than Held has in one at UNK. You have 2 winnable OOC games and your schedule towards the end of the year is doable. If you get drilled by Chadron and Directional MN State then you know there is a lot of work to do. I know you got a transfer qb in from MW and he's probably a better passer than TJ but I'm not sure a running qb works in today's MIAA. Maybe if you have a true shutdown D which UNK does not.

When are 2024 rosters due out on school websites?

        1. Central Missouri
        2. Pitt State
        3. Northwest Missouri State
        4. Fort Hays State
        5. Emporia State
        6. Missorui Western
        7. Missouri Southern
        8. Nebraska Kearney
        9. Central Oklahoma
        10. Washburn

I think Central Missouri will have an edge over Pitt State but not by as much. I feel like 3rd placed will be a big tossup battle between the Bearcats, Tigers, Hornets and Griffons. Any of them can finish 3rd or 6th.

I think the bottom 4 will be pretty close. I'm hoping UNK comes out on top of that pile.

As with other Loper fans I was so disappointed when Lynn left and wasn't super stoked about the Held hire. I'm hoping I can be proven wrong this year and there is more improvement overall.

Most, if not all, MIAA teams reported this weekend or are reporting this week. UCM is Wednesday. I would guess rosters will get finalized during camp and we should expect to see most of them complete in the next week to 10 days.

There are an inordinate amount of unclaimed seats in the season tickets reserved section right now. We upgraded to better seats that haven’t been open lately

Seems like a good, fair assessment to me. You're right about UNK's non-conference games. On paper, those are the most winnable games. The problem is, they are both on the road and one is against their biggest rival. If UNK doesn't win both of those, it's going to be extremely unlikely that they match or improve on last year's record.

Coach Held has said they've improved the roster in a lot of key areas. But every coach says that this time of year. They have to prove it on the field. At least they'll have the "everyone is sleeping on us" card to use as motivation.

it was mostly trash time and certainly wasn't against with games on the line. rumors in Osu circles (good friends with former OSU players) mom was pissed her baby wasn't at least getting more snaps a game or even starting. VERY athletic family dad, uncle, cousins etc. he's a game manager at least at OSU. he won't likely make very many mistakes. his dad was a very good QB at Osu
and has trained him well. he wanted to start and wasn't likely to happen for a couple more years at OSU. don't know how he'll rate at emporia compared to what they've had recently. we'll find out soon.

do we know what offense is going to be ran yet? I've heard more of a Harding type offense then no. the transfer you got from UCO ran a single wing attack at grove and was brought in to take over for steph but we know AD wasn't a fan of that.
I've met the Harding QB on visits and he's definitely a double wing/single wing qb 2 years into his collegiate career.

i personally think they (emporia) will beat Angelo state. when we played them in the bowl game they were a good team with 2 or three guys seeing an NFL roster the next year (haven't heard if they are still there) they were repping their conference hard SEE: "SEC SEC SEC SEC"....they weren't that impressive though. top to bottom, I've seen more out of the MIAA. can't remember exact score but it seems like we were down 18 going into the 4th and they were gassed completely out and had no answers for our offense. ended up winning by 6? no just looked it up. we were down 18 right out of the gate into the second half. down by 14 with 8 minutes to go in the game and won by 7.
granted, that was several years ago but outside of 2012, they haven't done much else. hell, Lindenwood scored 20 on them. the year they went 3 rounds deep in the playoffs. i dont know, tough to say but the two games we played in Texas in the bowls, those teams just don't seem as tough as the MIAA.

humbleness? just haven't been saying anything. if you remember, I haven't really talked much sh*t to anyone outside of reload. I think we have come to an agreement we both know football having both played in college. neither one of us are going to change our minds and the last game of this season will probably be the jumping off the deep end point. like I said in my UCO post...cautiously optimistic is what I'm saying this year. Herl has likely been replaced by a few things (I've heard) for the Houston transfer sooo not sure what this means for the offense. he's not big but is quick. see Kyler Murray. from what has been said, his stature is what kept him off the field at Houston. as i said, we will see.
                      meh

That Harding QB is now a linebacker. Definitely up tempo spread with RPO action.

Don't lie to them. It'll be 3 yards and a cloud of dust. 11 minute drives all day long.

I had heard that seat back chairs are now around $50 bucks per game. I am wondering if NW is trying to refinance to an interest only payment on that stadium.

They sent out a notice last season that they were going to ask the Suites to make a 3 to 5 year commitment at a price more commensurate with the rest of the league to help pay for a refurbishing of the 4th floor of the press box, but that didn't happen. Said they meant for their main sponsors...not sure why they'd send that out to the Suites then. Maybe it was a hard ask to boost prices and ask for a commitment after a 7-4 season...guess we'll see.
