My guess would be speed and measurables.Originally posted by Mule Dad View PostZach Atkins just committed to Colorado and Deion. Hard to know what separated him from all of the other TE transfers that allowed him to pick up like 20 D1 offers.
If one of you Bearcats can tell me what made him so special, I would be fascinated to hear it. He is average TE size, did not have great production this year, and didn't even make all league first or second team.

I have to think we had some scheme issues. There isn’t an extreme lack of talent on that side of the ball. I mean we at least have arguably the best LB in the conference. I think we could get better on the back end for sure.Originally posted by Shanghai Mule View PostFair enough, but the UCO defense got smoked by Northeastern State of all people and Ferris laid a basketball score on the Chos D. The Centrals both need major defensive help.

These schools not know how bad the UCM defense was this year? Not sure I would be jumping on UCM DBs in the portal.

Excuse me, Dizzy Dean?! He a three-pitch QB? What's his velo? Has replaced Hayden Hawk on the UCM All-Name team.Originally posted by Mule Dad View Post
Well, the actual backup this year was Donovyn Omolo, a true freshman. He probably wasn't ready to take over yet and I'd like to see him get another year as a backup before starting. He would be the most likely on the current roster to start next year, but I think a transfer for a year would be a perfect scenario.
They have another quality freshman, Dizzy Dean, who will be good as well in a couple of years. I hope the coaching staff can convince them both to stay for several years.

I'm not familiar with the other qb's on the roster. Of that group, who would likely be next year's starter?

I would think he would enjoy playing in UCM's offense if he is going to stay at the D2 level. He would be a good transition for 1 year before the next young QB, Omolo, gets the start.
