Rebuilds seem to have big rosters and big recruiting classes. Especially when the new coach brings a philosophy shift.

Maybe these coaches are evolving to the new environment.
Angelo signed 27 Freshman. Where do you see 40?

I saw a report yesterday that stated 47%-68% retention rate. Not sure how accurate those #'s are.

IMO. Signing a big freshman class is playing the odds. Maybe you will get a few good ones and cut the bad. Back in Csrthels time that worked (His M.O.) because it was hard for a player to transfer. But now, I am concerned that the few good players will jump ship via portal, and then what are you left with?

Same can happen if you sign 25. BUT, with a lower #, the philosophy is the GOOD players feel wanted and that can build loyalty.

I never have liked big freshman signing classes. I thinks it's more of an ego thing for the HC.

If what you say is true and Angelo signed 40 incoming freshman, I would be concerned, becausecthst goes agsinst the nationally recognized program Girsch built.

Yeah the AD was looking for ANY reason to keep Hughes and that was comical I will give you that.

I give more of a pass not filling the last game of the year. Most of the open dates are schools far east of here and either side probably have no interest in playing a road game if either one had a playoff berth on the line.

Maybe Angelo passed on some of them. They only have 36 freshmen on the roster. How many of those will be there next year?

Last time I checked five LSC teams could not fill that spot. Guess half the ADs at football schools are incompetent.

Its a huge step from November when the team quit on the coach and all the players were running for the hills to the transfer portal.
