Defense started out strong at the first of the scrimmage and the offense caught a rhythm in the back half. Overall, not much to be excited about. Your lines both offense and defense look slow, good size just not athletic overall imo. Will definitely throw the ball more in the new offense and will attack the middle of the field, something the prior OC did not do. There are always a few skill players that look good, the WR from Aledo, Trace Clarkson, will be a player to watch. All said, they better knock it out of the park in the portal or this will be Lynn's last year
This is pretty spot on for what I witnessed at the game. The DBs had pretty good coverage with little separation. Quarterbacks and receivers were not quite on the same page, it seemed, but that's probably to be expected. It was nice to see them throw it over the middle and get the ball to tight ends. We were impressed with Aledo kid as well, but I also worry about the lines. I think at least the offensive scheme will be much less predictable, if everything comes together. Last year's offense hurt to watch.

He was a bright spot on that team his Jr Yr, and even decent as a Sr,.even though he had no.run game, and almost no help on O.
I was about to come on here and say the same about Sampson, but PP pretty much covered it. Watched him throughout the season including in person at UCM when he tore our defense apart. Which isn't saying much, but....

I was really hoping to see him transfer to UCM for one season to bridge the gap from ZZ until our younger QBs are ready to go, but I don't know that we really pursued him. Either that or he wanted to play for Bane which meant following him down south.

I think Buff fans will be happy with what he brings to the offense and will fit in well with Bane's offense.

      • I think Greek is ahead on the depth chart as Spring wraps up so Sampson might be in the portal agian. I imagine they will use "Fats" as a wildcat guy

As he should be. There wouldnt be a WT fan on this board or many in the "real world" past, present, and future without him.

He coached back in the day when WT was recruiting ballers, not necessarily students. If you're going to win in college football, you'd better be able to recruit ballers. This isn't Stanford.

Hunter Hughes was required to recruit actual students; Lynn may be the same. Pick your poison.

There is no poison to pick anymore especially with NIL. If you want to win LSC championships and beyond you have to recruit talent at the expense of possible 2.5 GPA. If you want true student athletes then D3 is going to be the model. If not do what Sul Ross and Western Oregon is doing and politely ask for a$$ kickings from Incarnate Word and ACU to supplement that athletics budget. Problem is WT is doing neither right now in my view in football.

                    • Was the scrimmage in Pueblo so bad there are no updates on it? Curious how it went.

We made it to Pueblo. Unprepared with a medium jacket, the temp was 45 and wind 20-30 gust to 40. Too freaking cold. Next day's drive to Durango caught in April snowstorm. No way making it in my wheelchair van turned around outside Walsenburg and detoured to Santa Fe. A clusterfk. Hence, no report from me.

Ah yes, that lovely Pueblo wind. Hope it was a fun trip despite the change of plans.

Little scoop from a CSUP "insider" (no secret that a former player of mine/family friend coaches there)....CSUP had a phenomenal day. WT might be in trouble this year unless they somehow get impact players.
