    Re: UST

I'm sure that the NSIC doesn't simply want to be a parking place for a future D1 program, but if St. Thomas wants to make the full move they should begin playing chess at this point. Don't know if Tom Douple is playing the long game, but he should be. Frankly the WAC, dumpster fire that it is, is much more proactive in bringing D2 programs in than the Summit has been. The NSIC should be looking at St. Thomas as a pass through member while they work on nabbing somebody else. UNK is a long bus ride for the MIAA and might be a slightly better match for the NSIC--although it's a miserable drive either way. Maybe Morningside is another option, too successful to stay NAIA.

I, among others, have talked to Morningside people (including coaches) at length about this. They love where they are at now and claim no interest in D2. They like having success in football and remember when they were the NCC doormat.

It's gonna be rough on the NSIC, with many recruits coming from the twin cities, I'd imagine with scholarships in play for high education and solid athletic programs, kids will choose a school near home and in a bigger market with the largest newspaper dedicated almost exclusively to them.

No doubt! The exposure would be great for the NSIC.

It most absolutely would! It would be nice to be more than a score clipping in a newspaper that isn't published in the same city as a member school

I've talked with several Morningside-connected folks too.....they love where they are at right now, competitive across the board in virtually everything at the NAIA level. No strong desire to return to D2

The ONLY plus for them to make a move would be the increase in competition level. They have a pretty great situation right now in the GPAC. Not only is it a good level for them, but they're pretty centrally located within a smaller footprint. Of their 11 conference road trips, three are closer than a road trip to Wayne, five of them are closer than a road trip to Sioux Falls, and 10 are closer than a road trip to Fayette.

$11.75 million. Is there a ranking somewhere so I can see where we slot in among D1 schools? Because I know that's more than some D1 schools. We are a very large athletics department with a total of 20 sports, though. (Used to be 23).
