Would have been fun to see. Who knows what the outcome would have been, however, I do think it would have been a better game then sending back a team Augustana had already handily beaten and a team that was also handily beaten the week before at home. I will be rooting for the Vikings on Saturday though.

Pretty bold assumption. I'm never going to go out of my way to defend Augie, but had it not been for a foot of snow, the Vikings very likely run the table as the clear best team in the NSIC this season. The fact that they will likely get trucked by the best team in the nation this weekend won't change that fact either.Originally posted by Umdfan35 View Post
obviously UMD would have done better, we will never know, but I know we would have beaten Auggie, but it is what it is.

It has happened. NCAA accidentally ships North Dakota State's championship banner to North Dakota - CBSSports.comOriginally posted by Augieholic View Post
Congrats. Hang the hypothetical banner.

Both statements are very true! I laughed at the parking on the lake line...come back in January or February for thatOriginally posted by SW_Mustang View Post
I would not recommend parking on the lake as it's way too early for that.
And lastly, don't let anyone freak you out about crime rates. Bemidji is just fine.

It's funny, I toured BSU once and they actually pushed it as a feature - and to be honest, I thought it was awesome (and still think so). Another feature of BSU that was pushed that day was (and I quote) "It's only three hours to St. Cloud!"Originally posted by CollegeFBGuy View Post

In all seriousness - BSU holds a special place in my heart. My grandpa said for years that on one of our summer cabin trips, he'd take me to see the campus. We got that opportunity one of our final trips north. I'll never forget seeing campus for the first time and how pretty it was that summer day. He passed a few years later.. Around that time, my dad took me on that campus tour - where he also surprised me with my first ever hockey game (his as well). I won't admit this publicly as an MSU guy, but that game is a very, very fond memory for me and launched an obsession for the sport.
Anyway, I mention the crime because it gets brought up on this board every so often. I never want a misinterpretation of the stats to deter someone from visiting a place like Bemidji. Sure, there's crime - but if you're not looking for trouble, you won't find it (and really that's true of anywhere). It's a family friendly community, despite what the stats would suggest.

Not a laugh, the Bulldogs are 11-2 v Auggie, your last win was in 2005. UMD has the #1 total D, Auggie # 7 in total O. But we will never know, see you next yr, good luck v MinesOriginally posted by vikingfaithful View Post
You know you would have beaten Augie!!! Thats a laugh. AU has the #1 run defense in the league. Butler-Lawson couldn't even get 100 yards rushing on the Viks in two games. AU would bottle up the Dogs only weapon Walljasper and the rout would be on.

OK you win. The Bulldoggs were the best team in the league and are rightful champions. Hope you feel better.Originally posted by Umdfan35 View PostNot a laugh, the Bulldogs are 11-2 v Auggie, your last win was in 2005. UMD has the #1 total D, Auggie # 7 in total O. Too bad all those wins over Augie from 2006-2022 don't get you in the playoffs this year. We're onto Mines.

And I hope you guys win. Need to win more outside of the NSIC to raise how those outside of the conference look at the NSIC. Mankato played them close last year and hopefully Augie does that at the very least.Originally posted by Augieholic View Post

OK, this is a CWU guy looking at Bemidji's rise over the past few years. Looks like this coach has brought them up from a decent team and is turning them into a growing force to be reckoned with. But looks like the team had to change its identity this year after the graduation of what looks like some incredible receiving talent. So am I correct in saying that no one on this year's team will get any All-American nods, but they all play very well together, sharing the load on both sides of the ball.

This is pretty spot on. Alt is a talent at QB, but not AA level. Bemidji is a solid team that plays as such. They typically will not take themselves out of a game, or beat themselves. They can win in a variety of ways now as well, not just a prolific passing attack. It always seems silly to say, but losing the talent they did at WR after last year May have strengthened the team. I hesitate to say ‘made better’ but they are certainty a more balanced team this year.Originally posted by Goods View PostOK, this is a CWU guy looking at Bemidji's rise over the past few years. Agreed. Instead of 1 or 2 "lights out" receivers Alt now has 5 guys who will all share the load with 4 catches and 50 ypg each. Same with RB's, two guys who will go for 70 and 50 ypg. They've got that LB(?) who has 10 sacks I think it is.
I think a low-scoring affair helps CWU as our defense is the strength, but it also seems like our part-time QB who has turned into our starter late in the season is finding a rhythm. And if our #1 RB can come back from whatever injury took him out of the game on the second play of the day last week, we can be good.
21-17 CWU, but if I take off my Crimson and Black shaded glasses, I'm very aware of Bemidji's strengths.
