BSU and SCSU with two sister kissers this past weekend. BSU snatched a tie from the jaws of victory on Friday night, being up 4-0 and tying the Huskies at 4-4. On Saturday, Bemidji native Nick Leitner scored the tying goal (his first goal in his first game) with four minutes left to set up the tie 2-2.

NEWHA will not have an autobid. Not eligible this year, sounds like they will be next year- but still not an autobid.

NE-10 Hockey should move up to D1 through an alliance thing like the womens teams do. NEMHA. That way they don't really need to increase the budget or Arena Size, but get to play like Atlantic Hockey schools and what not. Makes it a little more meaningful. I don't know why the NCAA shut down D2 schools playing D1 hockey. They could probably get a waiver for real D1 hockey if they so choose so one can make the tournament each year.
The NEWHA is now D1. It will be interesting to see how they do. Women's hockey is more top end heavy than any other sport I can think of.

I know it is not for this year, but BSU's AD leaked next year's non-conference opponents on the Beaver Radio Network's Green Mill Coaches Show on Wednesday night. They will play a home and home with North Dakota and then have St. Cloud and Duluth on the schedule. It wasn't completely clear from the conversation, but there is a possibility that those two matchups could be home and home as well.

They don't need a waiver and the NCAA has not shut down D-II schools playing D-I hockey, IIRC. Since the NCAA does not sponsor a D-II tournament, all they have to do is declare their intent to play for the D-I tournament and then meet the minimum games guidelines (I believe it is 20 D-I games) on their schedule. 20 games would then figure them into the PairWise Rankings for an at large bid. It would be a real long shot making the tournament only playing 20 D-I games, but the possibility would be out there. Filling out a 20 game D-I schedule would be difficult though, as any "full D-I" team, even with a win over one of these teams, would probably take a hit in the PWR.

The NCAA has shut down D-IIIs trying to playing up though as they do offer a D-III tournament.

I'm not going to start a new thread on this- but the only D2 hockey conference, the NE-10, just added Post as an associate member. This brings the number of teams to seven.

As women's hockey in Division I is an expensive proposition to start and maintain, with extensive travel costs, that is an advantage for an institution considering starting a hockey program (men's) In the case of MSU, I am almost certain that female enrollment has been and currently is higher than males.
