PSAC WEST

This kid can score a lot of points in a hurry. I will be curious how he will do defensively. Going to have to hit the weight room and wonder if a redshirt year is in his future As a PIAA district 9 fan we will be rooting for him for sure. And I am sure there are a lot of north central PA HS coaches glad to see him graduate!!

So as a newbie here and the last thing I needed was another site to follow, but oh well..... my question is this.... I see a lot of not really bashing but suggestion that Mercyhurst doesn't play the most exciting of basketball. And that certainly may be the case, but looking at the scores from their games the last two seasons their offensive average isn't horrible. Again, I am new not only to this site but to PSAC basketball as well so I really don't have a clue. I just find it odd that the Chambers kid would end up at a slow it down type system as he always seemed to be a score and score a lot kind of player. I guess slow it down systems still need shooters!!!

Owen Chambers, from Coudersport, is going to Mercyhurst. He's the all-time leading scorer in District 9 at over 2,200 points. He's 6-2 and rail thin. But I've seen and covered a handful of his games...he's a gamer and a deadly shot. I think he'll get minutes in their 11-man rotation.

Well, most of KR's tenure at SRU he only had between 3 and 4 rides -- and he put some awfully competitive teams on the floor. I think he was a master at the 'work around' and found other ways to get those guys money. That's just talking out loud ... no clue if he even applied.

Here's a mind bomb: Either JR or KR as head coach and the other as assistant. You'd have game officials on suicide watch by the intermission.

Clarion taking their good old time. Makes you wonder if it's all just about saying you have a basketball team. If so, what a waste of all that state money for Tippin.

Mercyhurst has signed (PF) Melkisedek Moreaux (6'8", 195 lbs) ... although he looks pretty jacked so that weight is likely several years old. He previously played at St. Bonaventure.

Looks like he was a deep bench guy at St. Bonaventure. He'll have one year at Mercyhurst.

At least Clarion finished the season. The 2016 Lincoln (Pa.) softball team lost their first six games and ultimately cancelled the rest of the season (I couldn't find any stories from that season on the LU website; sounds like they had a problem keeping enough players that season).

But, wow, 0-43. Only two other D2 softball teams finished 2019 without a win: Livingstone (0-28) and Paine (0-21); Lemoyne-Owen came close, finishing with a 1-21 record. The three schools I just mentioned are from the SIAC.

Wow!!! 0-43!! Outscored 456-132. Would have been worse if not for the 15 games ended by the mercy rule.

Outhit .403 to .238. Gave up 235 walks for a .509 on-base percentage to .305. That is staggering.

What in the world is Clarion doing? Marcess Williams was fired on 3/6/19. It's pure speculation, but perhaps Williams is under contract through end of April or end of May, and Clarion is too cheap to have any salary overlap with a new head coach???

During this now 2+ months delay, Clarion's best players are transferring, no recruiting is occurring, and the next head coach will be asked to work for peanuts and recruit leftovers with very few scholarships. But he will be expected to succeed?!?!

C'mon Clarion, just issue a press release that you don't care about men's basketball.

It's beyond embarrassing at this point.
