Just my opinion but I think that Coach Sancomb chose to take the high road in terms of any wrongful termination pursuit. With he and his family still living in Wheeling and active members of the community, schools, youth leagues, etc...I think he wanted normalcy for his wife and kids. Again just my opinion.

Apparently the school thought the issue that lead to the firing was sufficiently negative to justify what effectively is tearing down a top tier program and rebuilding from scratch. Think it will take them at least 2 more years until they are consistently competitive again.

Not surprising they are 0-10 when they are starting one Sophomore and four true Freshmen!!! There not doing bad in any statistical category it's just that their opponents are doing better.

Same situation with the VULCANS. Except with just 8 players available. BRENT PEGRAM and 3 freshman are all playing mid thirties. Along with a soph and a RS junior 6 account for 95% of playing time. There may be some relief in January as DS indicated on his weekly show that some transfers may be eligible to play then. Time will tell.

That's possible but if that was the case I don't think Danny would have let all his supporters and players go Twitter-crazy with that #savedanny campaign, etc. His wife probably wouldn't be posting the recent Tweets, either.

Schools can get away with this stuff in these small towns. The schools basically control and run the local newspaper. Let a Pitt or somebody fire a highly successful coach and not give a reason. They'd be crucified in the local, regional and national media -- to the point they have to address it.

This whole thing revolves around the bank account Sancomb opened when he was the AD, how that account was funded and who was paid out of that account. Over the years I've become pretty good at interpreting "lawyer speak" because of my job. I note that his lawyer talks about "school administrators" knowing about the account without sighting who the officials were OR noting that as the AD, Sancomb was a "school administrator." He also never mentions who was stroking the checks and only says the account was used to pay ticket takers, score keepers, security and other support staff without pointing out that many of the positions sited are filled by athletes. He also fails to state were the money that Sancomb used to open and maintain the account came from. Everything could have been on the up and up with this account but Sancomb's lawyers statement begs more questions than it answers.

Gannon lost by double digits despite Notre Dame shooting below the Mendoza Line from behind the arc (5/29 -- 17%). That's what 23 turnovers will do. Bring on Ship and Kutztown! I really want us to bring the figgy pudding, but we'll probably throw it out of bounds.

Things do get swept under the rug all the time (see Penn State...see Ohio State...see SRU...etc). But eventually they are exposed to the cold light of day. Typically happens when a new President come in and for some insane reason, want's to act ethically and/or do things "right." Sets kind of a bad precedent for a new president when faced with his or her first ethical dilemma to sweep the problem under the rug!!

Kind of interesting to read peoples feelings regarding Reynolds "firing" and Sancolms. On the one hand you have Reynolds who is not accused of violating any NCAA rules and most people here seem to be in favor of him being "fired" while Sancolm stands accused of an actual NCAA violation and most (many?) people here want to minimize it. Wonder if that has anything to do with how many wins each coach has or is projected to have in the future??
