Where did WVW come from ... 2-0 vs WCU and Kutztown.

Add East Stroudsburg to the 0-2 list.

PSAC hasn't had many bright spots this weekend. Awful for the most part.

Tough to beat a team shooting as well as St Augustine's was, but the defense looks like it could use work. ESU got shredded by Amir Hinton of Shaw, previously of LHU. He shot 27/29 from the stripe. Can't speak to the quality of the officiating for better or worse, but you can't put one player on the line that much.

SRU took two real tough, close (final 30 seconds) losses. They will be a tough out all year. New import Warren didn't play last night. Not sure why.

Overall record wasn't great but the league did get some nice wins. Both of IUP's opponents are going to win a lot of games this year. Kutztown won at West Liberty. UPJ upset Virginia State.

I don't think anybody saw West Chester and ESU each starting 0-2. WCU will recover. Lot of talent. ESU lost a ton from last year. We'll see what happens there.

Last year the PSAC was extremely deep. This year the MEC appears very deep.

The PSAC may be very top-heavy and then a huge gap to the next tier.

PSAC East men's teams went a combined 4-10 this weekend, while PSAC West teams went 5-8. That's a 9-18 overall mark:

            PSAC 4-12 vs. MEC
            PSAC 4-6 vs. CIAA
            Edinboro defeated D3 Thiel

The MEC went 16-7 in non-conference play this weekend:

            12-4 vs. PSAC
            4-2 vs. CIAA
            Urbana lost to Salem

CIAA went 8-9 overall in non-conference play.

Hate to break this to PSAC Nation, but the MEC appears to be the dominant conference in the Atlantic Region.

Fortunately most of the PSAC posters on this site only care what one team in particular does this season.

That said, as I mentioned earlier, SRU is going to be very good. Look what they did this weekend despite boycotting a whole week of camp, playing no scrimmages and having a whole new roster. They will win a ton of games this year and as the dust continues to settle inside Morrow become a major force.

Edinboro is going to be better than most think, too.

As a whole, though, last year was probably one of the strongest and deepest PSAC's in a long, long time. A whole lot of senior studs left the league. That said, I'd have laughed if somebody said WCU, ESU and SRU would be a combined 0-6 by this morning.

Quite early to be crowning or eliminating anyone...

Well, even if the PSAC teams right the ship, don't think for one second the selection committee won't take notice if an MEC team on the bubble beats a good PSAC squad early in the season. Those non-conference in-region games, even early in the season, have an impact when it comes down to choosing the top eight teams in the region. Just ask IUP...

                      Amen.

IUPAlum and I jumped out of our seats when that VSU game ended. We are well aware what they mean.

Everyone seems to overlook that Mercyhurst also played a D3 school, SUNY Fredonia. Only mention of playing a D3 school seems to be assigned to Edinboro.

Slippery Rock plays Carlow (NAIA) and an Ohio University branch campus. Edinboro is doing something similar - local D3 and a Penn State branch.

Even IUP is getting in on the D3 game when they play Westminster on November 19.

Non-conference games are hard to find without blowing big bucks on travel.

Mercyhurst was deemed an exhibition for whatever reason. They are showing a 0-0 record. So is Fredonia.

                            Probably part of the contract.

FWIW, RMU is playing DIII Mt Aloysius this week.
