    Re: New WJU MBB HC

Jeez...What the H is going on a Cleveland State?? VC is showing them with THIRTY FOUR offers in the SH class of 2020!! Also showing them NINE players transfering out this year. That's the same number as WU!

Maybe the remaining players that have left WU and are unsigned can sine with Cleveland St and the unsigned transfers from CS can transfer to WU!!??

Garbage program. They wouldn't even be a good D2 team.

They have been bad the last four years but before that, they were pretty good. Previous previous HC was there 11 seasons and produced numerous 20+ game winning seasons, an NCAA tourney apperance (were they beat the #4 and #12 ranked teams) and three NIT invitations. SO it is possible to put together a winner at Cleveland State. New HC (Gates) has a pretty impressive pedigree including the last eight working for Dennis Hamilton at perenial NCAA contender FSU.

With the mass exit of players from the program, Gates will have his hands full pulling together anything more than a shell of a team for the coming year. But given how the last four teams have played, he's probably better off than trying to convince marginal performers to buy into his defensive style.

WJU picked up Bloom transfer Peyton Mortelite. He can shoot the 3.

Oh so quickly, Ryan is putting together a decent team. Note when I say decent, I'm talking 8-9 wins.

Mortelite ended up there. Take that for what it's worth.

He was a role player for a terrible team. He may now be a star for a really terrible team.

I am surprised he didn't drop to D3, but he was one of the best 3 point shooters available.

Those stats are a bit misleading. In his average 19 mpg he managed to put up 3.5 threes and hit 1.6 for his average of 7.7 ppg. On a 7-19 team he should be putting up 6-8 shots and at least be in double figures.

That means he had to take a shot nearly every 2 1/2 minutes. He needed someone to get him the ball, since he can't get his own shot. Their point guard was ineligible after the first semester. Plus he has had a shoulder injury two years in a row

Can't get his own shot, injured frequently, doesn't shoot enough but hits a good percentage. May be who WU is playing this year. Hope COACH RYAN is a patient man.

If you've seen Pratapas from Mercyhurst ... best case Mortellite can be a version of him.

                          Re: New WJU MBB HC

He seems to be a player that is better in a starting role. Scant body of work on this but he did start 8 times last season and in those games he averaged 13 PPG and shot .481 from 3. He is a three point sniper, no doubt. While he can handle the ball a little bit, he's not the kind of ball handler who is going to consistently get his own shot. IF WU has a PG who can get the ball to him in rhythm, he looks like he can drain threes from almost anywhere.

Probably not a player that a good team picks up as a potential starter, but on a team that is probably going to be in the 9 win range, he is a pretty good get.

Should be a starter at WU so that box should be ticked...Unless he has some sort of "structural defect" (i.e. a "bad" knee or ankle) that is prone to repeated injury, his injury history would probably be chalked up to luck and as such, probably won't happen again...Will depend on WU finding a PG that is capable of getting him the ball consistently.

He reopened his recruiting process according to Verbal Commits. What is with that?
