Terrible game for VULCANS WBB. Awful shooting FG-22.7%, 3PT-27.3 and crazy excessive fouling. This team will win their usual 20+ games but will not compete for post season play.

VULCANS WBB overcame a horrible 2nd qtr to pull out an important 62-56 win over West leading SHU. For the first time this season JR Shauna Harrison led the scoring with 20 pts followed by Bennett and Terrell with 12 each. Shooting was still not acceptable but the defense was able to hold the STEWIES to worse numbers.
Another critical game on Saturday @ SRU.

How do you win a game when you shoot less than 40% FG, less than 20% 3s and less than 70% at the line. Simple turn over your opponent 30 times for 40 points off TO. VULCANS WBB had another putrid shooting day but thankfully ROCK WBB handle the ball like a hand grenade and the result is a sloppy 66-45 victory. Terrell 15 pts and 8 rbds, Harrison 14 and 7, Allen 13 and 8.

On the PSAC WEBSITE, the CalU vs Slippery Rock Women score is incorrect. SRU was the loser and Cal was the winner. Not the other way around.

Consider the source. The Home Office in Lock Haven spends a great deal of money and still gets a great deal incorrect. Some things may never change.

Very important win for VULCANS WBB tonight over #21 IUP, 62-46. Still not great shooting aside from FT 12-13 92%, but crazy aggressive defense and rebounding turn a close game for 3 qtrs into a walkover. CAL outrebounded the C'HAWKS by 43-28 denying opportunities for 2nd chance pts and the smaller than usual TO differential still resulted in 11 pts off TO. Just a bit of breathing room in the PSAC WEST standings

In their 3 losses the team shot a total of 8-45 or .177% versus a season average of .263%. The two best % 3pt shooters are Terrell (.295) and Harrison (.298), both forwards. No guard who plays minutes averages above Loyd (.267). By comparison in '14-15 Glenn (.364) Mahady (.322) and Fratz (.309) were killing it. Unfortunately that skill is largely natural and no amount of practice helps. This is another outstanding Strom team with one glaring weakness which opponents are beginning to recognize and exploit. They could go far this year but will be limited in close games.

Playing down to competition isn't where @CALU_wbb should be. Win over UPJ was a matter of the LADY CATS outstinking VULCANS WBB. FG 36.1% and FT 53.8% won't win anything against top teams. Normal +10 TO only resulted in +3 pts. Fortunately UPJ shot FG 32.7% 3PT 00.0% (0-8) and FT 61.5%. 56-42 W.
On to Erie for LAKERS on Saturday.

Not gonna win many down the stretch if you finish like tonight. Cant handle press and no legs at the end. Not much basketball IQ on the court. Sorry no NC this year, be lucky to get out of west. You guys seem to be in a rut, maybe time for a big change.

Can't tell if this is about the MBB or WBB ?? I would never presume to be in the running for a NC even if the talent seemed to warrant it. @ CALU_wbb has won 2 NC and both teams had games that could easily have ended it all on route. My frustration with tonight's WBB game was the sloppiness of the effort against an obviously less talented opponent. I believe ( can't possibly know) that Coach Strom would feel much the same way when her team allows the play of the other team to determine the play of her team. Having said that it's highly likely that VULCANS WBB will be in both the PSAC and Atlantic Region playoffs this year and NO ONE in their right mind would consider changing anything about this amazing program.
If this is a comment about @CALU_mbb please see '21-'22 VULCANS MBB.

Unnecessarily difficult VULCANS WBB win in Erie over 'HURST, 68-60. Poor shooting again allowed a sub .500, 7-12 team to compete when the game should have ended in a half. FG-37.3% and 3PT-25% gave the LAKERS the opportunity to win a game they shouldn't have had. In the end FT differential, CAL 20-23 vs 'HURST 15-18 accounted for the final score.
This coming week could be a mess as CAL faces three possible losses Mon-@17-4 SHEP, Wed-@15-5 IUP and Sat-9-7 BORO. I expect 1-2 and will be very pleased with 2-1. 3-0 is unthinkable, but strange things happen. Time will tell.

VULCANS WBB fought hard vs East contender SHEP but came up short 66-76. Very uncharacteristically for a Strom defense, the offense scored enough to win but giving up 14 pts OVER AVERAGE was their undoing. The stars, Terrell, 30pts/8rbds and Loyd 17pts/8assts, did their part but got no help from Harrison, Allen and Bennett who combined for 13pts, 13rbds and 4assts.
On to IUP on Wed to face an angry crew of C'HAWKS looking to avenge the an unceremonious slapdown from 10 days ago.
