Interesting coincidence that you should mention advanced stats. In an effort to improve quality of play, there is a rumor that the NCAA basketball rules committee is considering a proposal to calculate a quality of play measure for both teams and adjusting the score accordingly. My guess is that it would consider assists, turnover margin, offensive efficiency, and number of passes before a shot is taken. Initially, the score will only be adjusted at the end of the first half, as an experiment. It will be applied only to D2 initially. Don't have more details, as the meeting was to take place sometime today,

FYI 4/1/2022 D2 Transfer portal update- About 15% growth in portal in one week since 3/25/22
- 265 teams have at least one player in the D2 portal. There are just over 300 teams in D2.
- 754 players in D2 portal as of 4/1/22
- Only 50 have found new schools - vast majority are other D2 schools (in some cases D3). Very few D1 schools
- 45 teams have five or more in the portal
- A more relevant stat would be total points or minutes entering the transfer portal by team and separate graduate transfers from underclassmen. But I am not aware of a free database that consolidates all players statistics.
- As Disraeli said, "there are lies, d**n lies, then there are statistics.

Sounds like Pitt is all over former Illinois PG Andre Curbelo.
Former 4-star ... extreme upside but his inner Iverson comes out way to often.
IUP lit him up in the exhibition ... forcing him in to 10 turnovers. He got a really bad concussion near the end of the IUP game and missed the next two months.
Pitt (and many others) went after him hard out of high school.

Given that the season has been over for the vast majority of teams, from all divisions, for several weeks, I'm a bit surprised that so few have made their move. If my guess is right the reality of 750+ players competing for a limited number of peachy spots is beginning to sink in. Probably a lot are discovering that their actual talent, as opposed to what their boosters suggest, is just enough to get them the same position they had in a different town. My guess, totally unfounded, is 10-15 will move to D1, 20-30 will improve their D2 situation and the rest will settle for what's left. All in all a pretty fruitless exercise which hopefully will be drawn down as time goes by.
