You said the nonconference schedule was mostly Division II and Division III schools… it’s 3/15, the other 12 games are Division l games…

Those home buys are laughers no doubt. There’s a few decent non-con games on that schedule though. West Virginia stunk last year but has been a top-25 caliber team 3 of the last 5 seasons. Kent State was only .500 last season but they’re usually a contender for the MAC’s auto-bid. They’ll probably kick the crap out of Hurst this year but it’s a good example of what a successful low-major program looks like and maybe Hurst will see the difference between themselves and a serious low-major team.

D&E is another one that seems like it could go at any moment.

They had 3 D2 games that backed out as well. Regardless, they shouldn't have any D3 games lol

That's how it's sounding because supposedly Clarion was in the mix, but bowed out.

Gannon schedule will probably be another few weeks as they're trying to get OKs from PSAC about moving some games due to being at Hagerty with Prep Vball, BBall and GU VBall. Some horrible logistics if they don't change it.

I can understand Gannon not wanting to play twice. In reality the games do nothing for their resume, win or lose.

But I do think it would be cool for Erie to play it once a year. Rotate gyms or play at the big arena downtown. Maybe in the future.

When's the Mill going to be ready?

I’m with you but for some reason all low major schools are doing it now (Division III games). It seems to be a newer thing, I’m not sure why it started.

The last article I could find was from this past January saying it will be ready in January 2025.

Mercyhurst actually ended up with a better non-conference schedule than I was anticipating -- especially given when the announcement was made.

I'm assuming the indirect (or, perhaps direct) orders from the home office in Lock Haven instructed PSAC schools to not schedule them in anything. That is fully understandable. They screwed over the league so why help them.

Time also heals all wounds so we'll see what the future holds.

I will never be a fan of D1 teams playing D3 teams. As you said, it is becoming normal for the lower end of D1. I suppose it makes their record 'look' a little better.

                              Edinboro's non-conference schedule:

                              Nov 8 @ Fairmont State

                              Nov 9 vs. Fairmont State

                              Nov 13 vs. D'Youville

                              Nov 16 vs. Malone

                              Nov 26 @ Roberts Wesleyan

                              Nov 30 vs. Thiel

All perception versus reality. Their women are playing Notre Dame. That's a major D1 playing an awful D1. Notre Dame could get better competition from playing a high level D2. But Notre Dame is going to pay Mercyhurst a good chuck of change for that game, and that is all Mercyhurst is in it for. But Mercyhurst certainly doesn't have any money to give others to play them, so they will take whatever they get. And a DIII will think it is a big deal to play a "D1" school.

Of course Mercyhurst is about as much a D1 school as Point Park is a D2 school. Neither have any business being where they are at.
