  • I'm sure I'm leaving somebody out but it would appear the two biggest names remaining (from the West) in the Portal are:

Bryson Lucas / formerly of Cal

Cenker Evran / formerly of Edinboro

Both were injured last season. Lucas was hurt very early in the season and missed nearly the whole year. Evran was hurt right at the end of the season and missed the PSAC Tournament.

It wouldn't shock me at this point if both stayed put. Both are very strong D2 players.

It's not ruled out, but slimmer chances of Cenker. Him and Jennings butted heads

I've never met the guy or spoken to anyone about him, but my assumption from watching most Edinboro games this year is that he's a whiner and responsibility deflector off the court, too. I hope I'm wrong, but he grimaced and seemed to complain to the refs after each foul.

        • Bobby Rosenberger III (Quakertown, PA), formerly of St. Francis, has committed to Nova Southeastern.

He started 23 of 34 games at Guard for the Red Flash last season -- averaging 8.2 ppg. He did not have a great season from outside, hitting just 27 of 114 attempts (23.7%).

I'm curious to see how many football & basketball athletes stay put at St Francis just to finish out.

The men's hoops team (and HC) is completely gone.

The women's hoops team also took heavy losses.

I don't know what percentage of the football team left but it's a big number.

Cox and Slack were very productive players.

He's a huge whiner. That's why he left Gannon because Fee benched him because of his ethic.

I dont know why they're all leaving - they're still D1 next year and even after they go D3, scholarships will be honored until they graduate/leave. Hell stick around and dominate D3 lol

Can't have D1 Athlete in your persona if you're playing D3.

Once a D1 athlete, ALWAYS a D1 athlete. How many D1 walk-ons who never actually suited up for a game and went to and played the next four years at a DII, refer to themselves as having "played" at WVU (for example)?

                              This.

All of these athletes, specifically women's college athletes, are all trying to be influencers and content creators. The stuff you see scrolling on Instagram and TikTok is just comical. Go try the hashtag #D1athlete on either platform. You'd be amazed at what you will see. These girls who run track making 3 minute "Day in My Life" videos documenting their travel day when they run track at St. Bonaventure or some dreg D1 school somewhere. It's insane what society has become. They all are showing their makeup routines before they get on the bus in hopes of getting a Sephora NIL deal or whatever makeup company they are using.

To your point, it's way harder to be an influencer when you can no longer claim you are a "D1 athlete." At the stage we are at with NIL, influencers, etc. THAT is why all these people want to just "say" they go to a D1 school.

The identity piece is huge. So many alternative fitness businesses, weight training places, sport specific development gyms are all over suburban Pittsburgh. Great - you played up to AA ball. Go get a real job instead of opening some baseball development center for the Wexford crowd to pay for little Brayden to make a higher grade travel team or earn that 25% scholarship to Seton Hill.
