It's really good news for Charleston and West Chester that Fayetteville won the CIAA tourney. Most projections had Fayetteville in regardless.
Things could get a little dicey for West Chester if they lay an egg and Millersville has a good tournament. Given the way things have gone in the East this season, it's entirely possible.

In addition to Millersville, Shepherd is right on that cusp as well. Ville & Shep need to have a VERY strong week this week to make their case. WCU needs to hold on for dear life.

It's a mess. Cal losing to SRU was a big development, too, that was basically ignored on the board. The Vulcans have some big wins but also some very odd losses (SRU, Clarion, Edinboro). Cal seems to get really up for some games, and goes through the motions in others.
IUP has the least losses of the PSAC bubble but lacks quality wins aside from Millersville and East Stroudsburg.
What I'd call the PSAC Bubble as of right now (listed just in order of losses):
IUP (20-6)
West Chester (21-7)
Millersville (20-8)
East Stroudsburg (20-8)
Cal (19-8)
Shepherd (19-9)
If IUP wins tonight ... they are playing at West Chester on Wednesday. That's likely a knockout game if it happens. If Joe wins two games this week he's in. But, this struggling team better worrying about surviving tonight before making travel plans. If Shepherd wins tonight, they play Cal next. Basically another elimination game.
The PSAC has Gannon, and then a whole slew of "about the same" teams piled together.
I was really impressed with D'Alessio when he was up here with FSU for the Regionals last year. I found it odd that Fayetteville didn't retain him. Good hire for Bluefield if you ask me.
Yeah it surprised me as well, but I guess it worked out for FSU. I think Blue State also ended up the best they could have with D'Alessio. Football is probably going to be hard for them to see success, but it seems like they can continue to build up a pretty competitive basketball program.
Aside from Gannon, do you think any of the other 7 could survive a loss tomorrow?
I'm not so sure.
IUP & Cal are sitting in that 5-6-7 range in many projections right now. But what's below them is WCU, ESU, Shep, Ville, Charleston, etc. So I have a sneaking suspicion that IUP & Cal might be able to absorb a loss. WCU absolutely cannot. Nor can ESU, Shep, or Ville.
Of course that depends on avoiding a "bid-stealer" in either the PSAC or MEC (though I wouldn't put any money on a bid-stealer upsetting Gannon in the PSAC). But yes, barring a bid-stealer in the MEC, I think IUP & Cal could survive with a loss tomorrow night. It'd be a nervous week of waiting, but I they could plausibly survive.
I mean, somebody has to fill those 5-8 slots in the bracket, and VUU certainly didn't look confident in grabbing one last week.

Can't see either East Stroud or Shepherd winning those games away. Millersville has a shot at home. IUP and West Chester is hard to predict. It'll largely depend on how close the game is called and which version of West Chester shows up.

or which version of IUP shows up. IUP's offense has been in a shooting funk for a couple weeks.
Seems like tonight might have hammered the nail in the coffin for Ville, ESU, Shep, & WCU. IUP & Cal are safe. The only hope for one of the others is if Charleston loses to Glenville in their MEC opener. I assume if Charleston trips up, WCU may be poised to take their slot. But the 8 spot (and an all-expense paid trip to Gannon's house of horrors) is Charleston's to lose after tonight.
Funny enough I think there's a very solid chance it's a split regional for both men's and women's like 2024. Which means
Given regional rankings out today, for sure ESU, Millersville, WCU are done. Biggest risk right now is if Seton Hill goes nuts and upsets Cal (again) and Gannon. Seton Hill beat last years team once so if there's a PSAC bracket that scares me it's what remains.
3. Gannon
8. West Liberty
20. Fairmont State
37. IUP
47. California
61. Charleston
76. Fayetteville State
77. West Chester
-------------------------------------
81. Virginia Union
84. Millersville
87. East Stroudsburg
104. Shepherd
107. Seton Hill
Interesting. Latest regional rankings gave Fayetteville a big boost for the conference tourney win (pushing them up to the 4 spot), and they have Union in and WCU out. And with both Union and WCU finished playing at this point, I find it hard to believe that a committee will flip them now based solely on what they saw last night.
In my mind the real battle for the last spot is between WCU & Charleston. Charleston will have an opportunity to do something about it tomorrow while WCU sits and waits.
