    Re: Regional Rankings 2018

Historically the committee has proven hesitant to move anyone more than a spot or two regardless of performance between rankings. USI could probably have gotten beat by Missouri S&T this past week and still stayed in at 7 or 8.

Walsh falling in the first round of G-MAC to Lake Erie kills any possibility that they might have clawed their way into the top 8.

Yep. They are done. Hillsdale coming up at 2:30 could be a competive game with A-B.

That's one off of the heels of USI. We can control our own destiny, if we can just manage to start winning again.

I have to believe that Truman State is in if they beat Lewis.

If Maryville wins, and the bottom 4 all lose their first game, is Maryville in? (Not a ridiculous scenario, btw). Still think there is a chance that a team outside the top ten wins their conf auto bid. Top contenders are Maryville and Lewis. If Bellarmine does not win the GLVC there is a very good chance that an unranked team wins it.

At this point the most important games for USI are Lewis-Truman and Indy-Maryville. If Truman or Indy lose USI is NCAA bound regardless of their game.

Not sure that is true. What we don't know is how close the #11 and #12 teams are to the #7 team. There really could not be much distance. If Maryville wins two games and USI loses their first, that would almost assuredly put Maryville in front of USI. Even if Maryville just beats Indy and USI and Truman lose, Maryville could be in. Speculation on my part, but if you look at the objective rating criteria it is very close. If Ashland were to beat Ferris in the GLIAC semis, that could put Ashland in the tournament.

Based on the way the committee has built the bracket in the past I would almost guarantee you that barring something ridiculous happening in one of the conference tourneys USI is in win or lose. They simply do not move teams out once they're in (or in if they weren't already, for that matter), if they don't have to.

You are right with regard to what has happened in the past, but I do not believe that the factual situation has been the same as what COULD happen this year. It seems that the last few years there has been nothing that happened in the conference tournaments that would have made a big change in the rankings. The conference tournament games have to count in the rankings, don't they?

Didn't they count last year on the women's side when USI lost first round GLVC and got snubbed from NCAA?

Was it two years ago USI's men were ranked 6 in the region rankings and lost to Maryville or Jewell in the first round and were out of the NCAAs as well?

3 years ago lost to Maryville by 1.

Both UF and BU having close calls today.

Edit: BU pulls out but UF goes down.

USI fans [who want to see us play one more game] need to be rooting for Hillsdale now.
