That should, at least, get you a Coach of the Year award.

I just saw that Trevecca's president, Dr. Dan Boone, is now also serving as the president of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. Apparently there has been merger discussion. From what I can tell, Trevecca certainly appears to be the stronger/healthier institution in this relationship.

Also, Malone has been placed on notice by its accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission:

Would it be wrong of me to think that someone at Malone isn't doing their freakin' job???

The 2018 Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll is out. The most interesting thing to me is the Divisional Split (new G-MAC / old G-MAC)

          NORTH DIVISION
          1. Malone (9 first-place votes) 58
          2. Ohio Dominican (2 first-place votes) 45
          3. Hillsdale (1 first-place vote) 38
          4. Walsh 37
          5. Findlay 24
          6. Lake Erie 14

          SOUTH DIVISION
          1. Kentucky Wesleyan (8 first-place votes) 58
          2. Trevecca (4 first-place votes) 54
          3. Alderson Broaddus 36
          4. Ohio Valley 30
          5. Cedarville 27
          6. Davis & Elkins 11

            Baseball -

looks like you play divisional opponents 3x (DH + 1), other division opponents 2x (DH)

With North Alabama exiting the GSC, I wonder if TNU was/will-be re-considered. The GSC doesn't seem as hung up on football as they were when TNU first arrived in D2.

Saw this on the GLIAC board. Ashland commits to GLIAC - at least through 2020.

Interesting wording: "After careful consideration, President Campo indicated on Friday that the University has decided to remain in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and will not review the status again until 2020."

It doesn't say "no sooner than 2020". It sounds like they actually plan on reviewing the status again in 2020.

Might have told the GLIAC that they need to get some schools closer to Ashland. Who knows? Findlay's happy in the GMAC, have no idea what other schools are thinking. I would think that we would hear more by the end of February but I thought the same thing last February.

Well, with my Jackets coming in 9th and missing the 8-team tournament, I might as well move on to conference business.

Thomas More has still not made any announcement regarding their future conference / NCAA division intentions. They announced they were leaving the D3 PAC this past Summer. No word from them since. Some have speculated that they are considering D2. As I stated before, I don't really think they are G-MAC bound. However, they do sit in a geographic area that would appear to be a G-MAC priority. So, I've been keeping an eye on them - and probably will until they make some kind of announcement.

TMC just put out their football schedule for next year. It is an "Independent" schedule, with only 3 home games and 7 away games. The road trips are far ones - further than they made in the PA-based PAC conference they left. It is certainly not a desirable schedule, and I wouldn't think it is sustainable long-term. Interestingly, one of their games is against LEC.

                      I'll keep watching.

I looked up TMC's NCAA violation - their two years of probation ends on November 14, 2018. I'm wondering if that fact and the long delay in announcing a new conference lends credibility to the D2 rumors. If you are just switching D3 conferences, I don't think the probation would hold you back. However, I don't think you would want to subject yourself to the D2 application/review process until your probation had expired.

Interesting. Would they not be a target of the GLVC also?

Given the NCAA violation, I don't know that either conference would really target them.

However, their location is pretty ideal for the G-MAC. Which, has to make the G-MAC at least consider them - even if they are currently displaying a giant wart.

They fit better in the G-MAC footprint than the GLVC's.

I doubt they would want to extend our footprint 90 minutes to the East with all of the westward expansion we've been doing.

Understand. I thought with the loss of St. Joe's from the GLVC that UIndy, USI and BU would have a closer opponent. It seemed like Benedictine was geographically replacing UWP so Lewis and Benedictine could be a coupled road trip. UIndy/USI then BU/TMC
