Really depends on the health of Jenkins and Corbett. If both are out, then Daniel will most likely either be starting or 6th man. If they are both healthy and back to their former playing ability, Daniel slides down to 7 or 8th but still getting at least 15 minutes. He is too solid and experienced not to get some decent playing time. If Jenkins is out, Daniel will be playing both the 2 and 3 positions. If he got his shooting touch back, he would be fighting for the most time on the floor with Eberhard and Chitty.

Assuming health is not an issue, I'm hoping for more Corbett and less Ramser.

I wouldn't downplay what Ramser brings to this team. He is a tough unselfish player, who plays defense and does not turn the ball over. He has the height to play the 3 and does a great job rebounding. Many times last season, the team just starting playing better when he was put in. Very high Basketball IQ (oh I hate that term). He is pretty much the prototype Scotty player. He has lost some confidence in his outside shooting, although he has the best form on the team.

Meh, I thought that would rile someone up. Ramser is a solid player, with good defense and hustle, and I'm glad he's on the roster to add depth. Average size (easy for me to say, as I'd love to be 6'5"). But I think he's along the lines of a player that BU has always been able to pull in, while guys like Corbett and quite possibly Palombizio have a more advanced "skill set" (another fairly annoying term).

As I say all that, watch him make a big leap and be all-region or something. Would be par for the course for my prognostication.

This depth sure is a nice "problem" to have. I definitely remember so many seasons when that wasn't the case.

Speaking of Palombizio, looks like he's been working out with guys from WMU, KWC, and UWP:

New to the board, looking forward to talking BU basketball this season. Has the team seen any departures other than Taylor this offseason?

Welcome! We have a good group here, and, while not one to speak for others, I think it's pretty safe to say that we are excited about what may be a very deep Bellarmine squad.

As far as departures, I think Taylor is the only one that we know so far, although, given the additions, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one more.

Echoing similar thoughts others have posted, I can only imagine how competitive practices will be this season with everyone trying to snag coveted minutes. If everyone else on the roster stays this will be one of the deepest rosters in years in my opnion

No doubt the team will be deep, but I have to be consistent philosophically. In the past, when we were not deep, but had at most seven very talented players, I discounted the importance of depth. I still think that depth is a little overated. Is it better to have 11 talented guys than 6 talented guys? Of course it is, but probably not as important as commonly thought. Depth is important for really one reason, overcoming injury. The modern game is not that taxing on young, conditioned athletes. I just don't think these guys get tired playing in a game. Even when it comes to playing games close in time to each other, I don't believe that in the third game of a seven day span, the individual player can tell whether he played 60 minutes or 40 minutes in the previous two games. However, I do think that injury has cost BU a national championship in 2012 and a shot at one last season. More depth may have helped. The National Champs were not really that deep, but they had 7 guys with a lot of talent, skill, and smarts and had no significant injuries. In fact the same five guys started every game. I don't think that has happened for any other of Davenport's BU teams.

When it comes to tournament time, Scotty usually goes with 7 or 8 guys and he doesn't hestitate to play the starters more minutes than during the regular season.

I like to argue so much that I argue with myself. My only point is that if the strongest point you can make about a team is that it is deep, that is not enough to win it all. Only 5 play at a time.

I had never thought about it that way, but I think the depth is slightly more important with this team based on the Jenkins/Corbett history. That being said, I think this team has an opportunity to make a run if they can keep their core healthy

I think it can also be important if a guy is in, say, a deep slump, and there's someone on the pine who can at least temporarily fill the starter's shoes.

Also if a squad is playing a constant pressing, forty-minutes-of-Hades style, but that's not a concern for our guys ... so carry on.

My kiddo is attending one of Scotty's camps this summer; I know most, if not all, of the team assists at these things, so I hope to pop in and see some of the guys, especially the newcomers.

Let us know who is participating. I am especially interested in whether Ben Weyer or Daniel Ramser is there.

Will do. I hope they're both there and both still on the squad!

Just saw where our guy Chris Dowe signed to play in the top league in Israel. He's been playing in the top league in France.
