Coming from the reporters at the arena, it sounded like a tense situation. Nebraska was held in the locker room for well after an hour after the game.

He's also had heart issues, so it could easily be that again too. I don't know if it has reached Nebraska, but there's also another flu going around that lasts about a week. I had it, but no news about it really at all as we have flu shots that cover it and I can just blame myself for not getting one. It has no sore throat, unlike the Coronavirus and left me unable to keep food down..

Your post is what I'm afraid of happening, people jumping to conclusions about other flus or allergies and coughing for that matter as we enter spring. Tom Hanks did it right thinking ordinary flu first and testing for it too.

I read your post a couple times and I'm lost. What conclusions did I jump too?

I don't recall saying Coach Hoiberg has the virus, at least I'm not seeing where I said it in my post... I'll need a little help on that one.

*IF* coach has coronavirus, I think it's a logical assumption that the NCAA would cancel the tournament. That's different than coming to the conclusion that he has it, however.

EDIT: Reports are saying Influenza A. I'm glad I didn't assume he had COVID 19. *eye roll*

The game ended a while ago and Nebraska has not been allowed to leave their locker room. They are under quarantine. It hasn't yet been reported what the coach was sick with.

If he does have coronavirus, that's a wrap on the NCAA tournament.

It also looks like the Huskers had two football players on the roster tonight.

Yes, the Huskers left two players at home when they played the Gophers on Sunday. Sounded like disciplinary reasons. So they needed some bodies.

Now if Ebola shows up in this country I will take notice. So far deaths on this one are dwarfed by typical mortality of seasonal flu but it is considerably harder on elderly. My understanding is death rate is about 1% overall pretty much, but not totally, isolated to elderly and other compromised. Why is this one so hyped? I think a lot of it is politics and media hype and then you to get mob mentality, businesses and government make drastic decisions, stock market tanks and it becomes self feeding. Now we shut travel from Europe. I suppose that will get chastised and God only knows if the southern border Is completely shut down. How will the market react tomorrow? You would think it would drop more over the Europe thing and affect on economy but who knows when it comes to the stock market? Now I just hear Tom Hanks and his wife have it and so maybe does a Utah Jazz player. NBA suspending and maybe cancelling rest of season. This deal is going totally viral.

Granted I'm not that old, but I've never seen such societal unrest. The closest thing I can compare this too is 9/11. I get it's a very serious issue and should be taken seriously, but the amount of sheer hysteria is baffling to me. I feel like I've seen this movie before.

COVID 19 was affecting my place of work when it was still fairly localized to China, so I'd kept an eye on it for the past couple months. It didn't really affect what I do, but it was interesting to see how it was affecting everything. I feel like we went from talking about it to shutting down society in a very, very short period of time.

Hoiberg escorted off the court in the Nebraska game. No word as to what he is sick with, but I read security started to clear the area.

If it's COVID 19, I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA shuts down the tournament.

I'm all for preparations, especially keeping the vulnerable people safe, but I think this is a bit much.

What i don't understand is what makes COVID 19 different from the other pandemic scares we go through every couple of years. Ebola, Zika, SARS, Bird Flu... the only one to pan out was H1N1 and while it royally sucked to be glued to the coach for a few days, it didn't end up being that bad overall.

So games in tournament won't have fans. Can you imagine that new dome empty in the Final Four in Atlanta? They should just move it to a gym for site lines and Chic-fil-a won't be open for the Final Four.
